Hey Skeezer, nice job. It's nice when you can look at a painting and feel like you're a part of it. The mech on the left looks unfinished, but the upright one looks great. |

i really like your art. great job, only thing i notice is that, the mountains are too small compared to the mech.. it looks like its as big as the mountain even though the mountains are in the bg.. |

Bubonic, I'm not sure I understand, is it a problem with how far away the mountains are?
The mechs are already in the mountains, those are supposed to be distant peaks, but maybe I should find some way of pulling the foreground forward more, I think the fog is causing some confusion.
Akolyte, the left one was done slightly differently, I've been trying to match the two as much as possible. I'll work more on the thighs and the canopy.
dalickwid, thanks man, I'll try and sharpen up the shadows and try to ground them more.
Jezebel, thank you
-Skeez
btw, any comments on the concept, both vehicles are my own design.

I think what it is, is that the mountains look too close for their size. maby if they were less bright... |

I think part of the problem is that the brush work details on the mountain carry as much weight was the details on the mech. This makes judgements of scale a little more tricky because we naturally use levels of detail to determine distance.
There are a number of techniques you can use to help push the mountains back, atmospheric perspective being the most common. Air haze tends to mute distant objects making them a lighter tint. Another technique is blurring.
I hope I'm not stepping on any toes, but I took the liberty of working up a few quick samples to show you what I was thinking of.
BTW, I love the mech pieces. Keep up the fantastic work!

This image deserves more replies, it's really good!
I have to agree about the mountains though. Now that I look at it I can see what bubonic meant. I think the mountains on the right look far away, but the mountains on the left look up close and smaller for some reason... I think part of the reason being that there isn't much stuff between them and the mountains to give reference. It almost looks like the mountain is just up this one little snowy hill.
I dunno, I'm rambling
Image is still kickass!

Baby, I love mechs. This picture aint no exception.
Mah only crit is that the overall look of the machines is too rubbery. Make it more metallic. |

Pat, thank you, I see what you mean. I think I'll have to incorporate some of that into my piece, but I think I'll work more also on putting more size references in the foreground to seperate the hills from the mountains.
Thank you Jezebel, that means a lot.
Shaded, thanks The mechs don't have much metal on them, most of it is carbon fiber molding with a layer of buckyball fabric. The surface is going to look more like painted rubber. Makes the mech lighter and easier for the techs to repair, or replace.
Thanks everyone

I'll keep working on it.

here's the edited version, I cleaned up some of the lines on the mech on the left, and added some knee joints. I sharpened up the shadows under the mechs, and added detail to the line where the snow meets the gravel. I also blurred the background slightly, not to much since its such a clear day, and finaly, I put some sharper hill lines in to distinguish the background from the foreground.
whew! well here it is
thanks everyone

Anyway, If it wasent light, then the Turbo Thrust generators would just hold it down. And forget about the Pulls Cannon Survice Modulater....Uhhh..Nevermind
This looks good, For a "Yaaawwwnnn" mech
I think you should change this to a early morning sceen, then put a layer of misty fog over the mountans with a yellow tint makeing the mountans alot less detailed and darker compaired to the sun and mist. You know what I mean.
Ill just tell you later, Your probably comeing to school here in a sec anyway. Seeyas Isaac er Skeezer
