burnout: you can get this "spray" stuff that keeps things from smearing. Just ask at your local art shop they should know what it is. I can't think of the name of it and I'm all out. |

or you can put a glass plane that you wouldn't mind getting messy underneath your drawings.
good timing too. I'm reading through this warez version of Loomis' book on figures (thanks anthony
I'll have to pop some out tomorrow and post 'em. |

Yes!
Hairspray does work and it is definitely (sp?)
cheaper than that art-spray.

Careful with the 'spray stuff' it can easily ruin a drawing you like. AND it is usually flammable !!! |

frshly baked a few hours ago..... 1min, up to 4-5 min. Didn't bother to scan them all, they are simply not worth the scanning time.
I alway hope to see some extreme progress for every sketch, but I've noticed that it takes time

I've noticed that my progress tend to progress in little steps. One day, I'll make a big breakthru, and then I'll tend to plateau for a while until the next breakthru. I've had my plateaus last anywhere from a week to a couple of months. Don't let them get you down.

Kaligula, those are good drawings. Kinda' old school. I'd love to see more.
Joachim, man! I really like your new batch of drawings. Great sense of form, and very animation-ish.
I'm doing some tonight, will put 'em up tomorrow morning. I can't wait to check out some other ones.

joachim - i must concur with burnout. i've often struggled myself with a perceived lack of progress but these most recent sketches of yours are certainly improved form the ones you posted awhile back. if nothing else you seem to be getting much more down in the same short period of time. without scrounging around my harddrive for the old files i can't really tell how your shapes and forms have evolved but if i recollect correctly the shading, light and texture are all much improved. now that isn't necessarily what your going for but it indicates to me that its all coming much easier too you. great work.
ps. loved the mech you posted a couple of months back. its certainly my favorite work of yours to date (of a already impressive boby of work). friggin sweet.

It's already been said, but workable fixative will prevent smearing. It's great stuff. It may be expensive in an art shop. But the krylon stuff is the same.
Most of my stuff is 24x18, too. Annoying to scan.
I do have one 2 hr figure scanned. (I think, I can't remember exactly how long it was.)

I just finished a class last weekend that thoroughly kicked my ___. Taught by some true Masters.
Joachim: I am impressed by your grasp of the figure in such a quick time period. Our instructors along with a number of students are also able to capture the figure with such fluidity and emotion. I can barely get a wireframe together...
These are the low-lights of my endeavors...

Those look great, Waldo.
I'm drawing these in my sketchbook, so they're tighter than I want them. I miss drawing on a big pad of newsprint where you can really get your body into it.
These first ones are about 3 minutes
These are 5-10 minutes.
And just because it's late, here are a couple of people I drew at the library.
My scanner really sucks
