Hey Hugh, really nice pic.
I can see a bit of the renaissance influence (minus the saturated tones) I think my only crit would be that the tones you have used on the skin and the cast shadow over the eyes suggests are strong light source however the highlights on the hair and clothing do not support this.
Great pic , did you use any reference?

Hey there Freddio Frog. OR is that Caramello Koala in disguise??
Hmmmmmm.... maybe Agent44 can help out there, we need some undercover work done...
Apart from that
Cool pic, nice mood and colours. The saturation does remind me of old traditional renaissance stuff, so good work!

Hamster: It's Baroque in English.
Good painting/start. It kind of reminds of ren. paintings, but something about the imposing nature of the portrait itself, and the saturation, makes me agree with Hamster. |

Looks good. The difference in the size of his pupils makes him look a touch cockeyed. Oh, and I can't see how it's too dark-looks nice and bright to me.

This is nice but it could be a lot better with a little more work.
I'll try to point out the things I notice most of all.
1. The shadow falling over the eye. This shadow doesnt look like it belongs but even if it did its best to minimize your shadows or leave them out all together. Shadows destroy the form and must be done VERY carefully to look realistic.
2. You have some dark tones in the high lights which makes it look messy. The high lights recieve the most attention in a picture so you should do them as neat as possible. Also, minimize or leave out textures in the highlights.
Ok those are main things.. Also it woudl help to make the background a little rougher. And also.. it seems his head is slightly out of proportion. I think it has something to do with the tilt of his eyes.

One more thing.. On the highlights you need to think of the underlying forms when you do them. The bones are the areas that get the most/sharpest highlights... you might could condense yours a bit.

Very nice work Freddio.
I think that the hair would be reflecting alot more light given the amount that is reflecting off the forehead.

zen: the brownish colors and the hard light/dark contrast are typical for baroque.
the renaissance guys didnt uses so much shadow and put more details and different color into the pictures. they were the first with the lightrays. just want to say this eheh, because i had to learn this shit for my classtests two weeks ago.
