So, I took a turn left and ended up in inspiration lane.

And here she is. I feel a need to point out that this is Kiath, the first black dragon. It is the same person in the foreground as in the background...only two different forms.

Larger version

Oh, and be patient with me... this is one of the first dragons I've ever drawn!

I love the colors in this piece. Pretty pretty. I think you may have done the inside of the dragon's wings backwards. I'd think that the majority would be a little transparent and the veins would be dark.

Umm. i dont like the dragon. It's cartoonish. But i love the rest. Nice colors, as allways. Not your best one, but still lovely. Oh heck, skip the foreplay, off to the Oooh-and-aah part.

Oooh! Aah! More!

Chapel: Thanks! Those aren't actually veins, but now that you've pointed it out, I can see that they could be mistaken for that... ah well... heheh, too tired to change it now.

Spitfire: Thankee! Well, I can't draw dragons... Not at all, tried a couple of times before, but I guess they're just not my thing... Can't blame a girl for trying though, eh?

Nex. *big smile* *points to what she just said to Spitfire* I can't draw dragons... maybe one of these days... Hm. Thanks though !

Infinity: Thanks!

Spitfire (again) : Heheh, trying to coerce me into drawing something here?

MMM nice one Enayla! My crits would be, she could use some highlights on her right arm. Cept for that, the dragon looks a little too..hm..toy:lish. Small if you like
Doesnt look like it would be huge, like dragons usually are. But this one might be small I dunno

I dunno, maybe I must be strange or something, because I like the dragon. The structure of the wings is a bit suspect, but other than that, I like it a lot.

Very pretty picture. Very soothing purple/blue thing happening.

Hey Enayla

Well, like always your work is supurb.

I don't know why people are complaining about the dragon, it's very peacfull looking, in the shadows, lurking....captures the mood very well. As for the Lady, your skin tones are just so perfect, i love the grey look they always have. Perhaps straighten her head pose up, and have a small breeze, it looks like a cold night to me and the wind in her hair would look good i feel.

Keep up the stunning work as always.

Toodlepip,

duckstab.

Wow, I said Wow! This picture is quite good. The only thing I would fix would be the right side of her right arm it seems to be a wittle bit blurry and not as well defined as some of the other edges. All of your pictures I've seen so far are awesome, and this is no exception. Keep up the good work ^_^

Mmmm.... Nice going...This is lovely.... (I'm stoned on prescription drugs, so I'm...typing...very...slowly....) The lady is very sexy.

I'm not sure about intelligent critique right now. I'm doing my homework, and I don't feel very intelligent.... Erm. The sky, though. It's beautiful. The colours, that is. But it reminds me more of waves, of the sea, than of a sky. The clouds seem like ridges. The only other thing is...quite possibly not even a mistake. The dragon only has one horn. I think she'd look more convincing (+ ferocious) with two.

I like her outfit. It would look good on me.

Come to think of it, her hair would look good on me, too.

*Is drooling*

Enayla.. you still do some of the most beautiful work. although Im not a dragon fan I really like this picture..

the woman looks like catherine zeta jones

my only crit would be that her chest seems to be a bit long. her breasts almost seem to sag a bit.. but I guess not every woman is as perky as most 'guys' would draw them.

good job anyway.

Enayla, I may sound stoopid but I'd like to know where the inspiration for this came from, the reason I ask is because it reminds me alot of the Liveship Trilogy by Robin Hobb, if you haven't read this I suggest you do. I think you'd like it.

It's a lovely picture by the way.

Good artwork, Enayla, Maiden of the Spear! Though your dragon receive not VERY good (I think, you see on the dragon of Michael Whelan for Dragonbone Chair of Tad Williams books), but your baby looks quite amazing!

God I love that woman.

As for the dragon...hate to be harsh, because you've already mentioned it's your first real dragon, but it reminds me of a toy poodle some lady in Los Angeles would carry around with her on Rodeo drive while she shops (how do those dogs stay in that position even while being carried?). It is superbly colored though

Love your colors and everything.

*gasps*

Gods I hate computers. Had typed up neat little responses to every post in this thread, and it crashes before I get to press the "submit reply"... so I'll just type stuff together like this instead.

Thanks everyone for the crits and the compliments. I know the dragon could've looked better, but as I said, I'm only just learning to draw dragons. We all have to be children in something, right?

As to the colours, since everyone seems to like them... I love to work in blue and purple. As far as I'm concerned, those two are among the most beautiful colours you can possibly match in a picture.

Maybe I'll give the dragon a second try later this week but I don't know for sure... I'm honestly quite sick of this picture now *chuckle*

I think it would have been cool if it was an oriental dragon instead of the usual D&D type. She almost looks asian.

As a connoisseur of asian women I think I'll just step in and say the only similarities this woman has to an asian woman is her black hair...and the fact that she's female.

Otherwise I might've stared at it a LOT longer than I already have

I was raised by them. I didn't say she was asian I said she almost looks asian.

ok well i consider myself some sort of fantasy freak and sort of an expert on fiction races... this means elves (all kind) dwarves (all kind), Humans (all kind), Dragons (all kind), gnomes, and a few other races.... this means in the terms of well known fantasy series... dungeons and dragons and forgotten realms plus some 3-4 other book series.... So i can say that the dragon looks a lot like an old dragon would (indifferent) love the picture in general... you just blow me off....

God, Enayla; You make me hate myself. ;P
Great work btw; And I think I'll go the opposite of what Chapel said, and say that she looks kind of like Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I think all that's throwing it off for me with the dragon Enayla is just the pose. Now that I look at it more it's not the dragon itself (although it does have a cutesy nose, maybe a little more flared nostrils?)

As for you Chapel, I look almost asian too, if I wasn't so white and my eyes were at a little more of an angle :P

oh, and if I had that kickass jet black hair that stands up on its own when it's cut short.

Thanks everyone!

I'm going to have to draw more dragons to train a bit... though they're not actually my favourite creature to draw...

I'll try to get it right on my next try!
