very impressive work beet. Did you take photos of your friends, or did they pose live ?

These are nice... I may have to paint something like one of these. I may just have too.

Well.. crits.. the top is my favorite but is the ear not too small? Also in the second 1 2 things might could help it.. no highlight on the arm.. and it might be better to run the highlight down the center instead of on the edge..

thats bout it.

thanks guys
joachim : I took some pictures this time. it's less time consuming for the friends and also when painting in the past on the computer and from live model I found that the scene lighting was making way too much reflections on my screen. I guess nothing beats old canvas and paint for working with live models ( and "live" light ). A good reason to get out of the cave and grab a brush, really.
light: I know about the "edge" highlight on 2, you're right. about the ear, too

another one for the road ( same serie )
( btw the site's been updated a lot recently )

How do you do you paint with your colors?
Do you go back and select new colors everytime you make a new highlight or variation? Or do you dodge and burn one color to create variations that way.

Also, I've just been introduced to painter here at college. I HATE lots of painters brushes. They do too much of the work for you and looks very "PAINTER-ish" What brushes are good solid well rounded brushes /w options to use.??

thanks.

As of this posting, I am your latest fan

[edit] your gallery is great, beet!

Does Pascal Barret have his own gallery? I'd love to see some more of his very strange pictures!

swampbug : yes I pick my colors directly - no dodge-burn ( I had no idea there was one before you mentionned it )
painter brush are doing too much work for you ? lucky man . Maybe you can try some charcoal or something like that and put 100 opacity. at the end of the day, you can start from any brush and tweak it to make it in what you want.

Hi Beet,

This is really great work indeed! I'm impressed! The only thing I maybe can pick on is the ear on the head study.

Keep it up, this is really good.

Great work. Which version of painter do you use? Classic?
