Thought i would try a more simple style, and what better to simplify than something (or someone) beautiful... so i drew my gf, i'm very happy with how it came out, so i thought i'd share it with everyone even though it's a bit personal, but that is what art is about isn't it?

here's a real pic for comparison:

A very beautiful and touching image. I'm sure she loved it. I'm really digging on the limited spots of color and the flat shading of the skin and clothes.

I like, she's lovely. There's a kinda teasing look in her eyes the way you've drawn her. Nice.

Looks good. I would try and clean up the linework though. Try and make the lines a little smoother. Right now they look sketchy which give it a very unfinished look. Is this inked or what?

It is a bit difficult to compare as the drawing you drew was that of another pose and at another angle and also of a different mood.

I think the drawing in itself is good.
But, I feel your drawing has a bigger frame.

Judging from the photo, the girl appears to be thinner.

cute girlfriend.

Nice drawing as well, but it's kind of hard to see the resemblance from such completely difference poses. (and people can look way different from different angles so I'm not arguing that) Color might help capture a bit more of the atmosphere though, I don't know, but from that picture and that drawing it just feels like you could get more of the essence in there

cheers

seems to me that In your drawing the chin and the forehead areas are pointing in dif directions.. maybe its my eye tho.

I love the drawing baby (I'm the girl in the pic). But who ever said the forhead and chin were off... was right.. they are a little off. Its wonderful though ;]

and why did you post a pic of me with long hair? ;p

Very nice, hiemey. Hmm.... Hiemey? As in a derogatory(is that spelled right?) term for a jew?

huh? my name is a derogatory term for Jewish? shit, if that is true then i need to change it! Me and my friend came up with the name in highschool, i thought that it was original, but maybe not? anyone know if this is true?! now i feel bad.

hmm.. well thanks for the comments, lets see...

faust: me too.

Chapel: this is all done with the scratchboard tool in painter, so it is hard not to get a sketchy style to it, i see what you mean though... might have to try that out.

ArtKeo: yea, i posted a different pic on purpose.. i have my reasons, but trust me, it looks like her, and she is thin in the drawing as well, but the perspective and baggy shirt throw it off.

travis travis: i tried coloring more of it, especially the lips and the shirt, but it took away from what i was after and it made it less likely that you would be drawn the eyes.

Awetopsy: yea, i'll fix that

okay, that is everyone i think, Thanks overall, i appriciate the comments a lot.. and seriously, let me know if "hiemey" is derogatory, that bothers me a lot if it is.

That's an interesting observation there, Liquid!, I guess I never made it past those pretty green eyes to take notice of much else

Nice image, Mr. Hiemey. The anatomy looks well done, especially given the perspective. Only thing that really jumped out as being wrong has been pointed out already, that being the way the facial features are lining up...the eyes, nose, mouth and chin are quite.. not.. lined up right. My only critique though Good job though. Oh yeah, I happen to actually like the sketchy quality of the lines thanks to the tool used.
