all done in photoshp in around 4 hours at 600dpi.
to all the people that do this for print: is this a sufficient size to work in? what do all of you work in.

well this is for a comic coming out soon, just a pin-up. tell me what you think. dont hold back!

Neat! I really like the color of the highlights, it looks really spiffy

I think the fire stuff around the bottom is a little distracting though. I understand that's where the light is coming from, but it doesn't seem to be as well rendered as the rest of the image. Maybe play with that part some more?

Really good for a first painting

I love your pic! But is that scarab supposed to be in the background, or what? It looks a bit weird this way...

The rest is really cool.

600 dpi is not necessary. for offsetprint usually you work with 300 dpi. nice pic!

Look out! The Fist of Khonashua Walks!

(When did Moon Knight start carrying guns?)

Figure is great, Like the other elements too; as others have already observed, they don't work together well. You might consider a simple yet fully rendered background... even something mearly impressionistic... just enough for our eye to pass over and use as a depth placement referance for the figure -who, after all, is what it is all about.

Also, the tone range is way limited. Take a look at a histogram of it in photoshop. You will find that the pixel value rainge is all bunched up in one are. You might be able to address this by adjusting it with the curve dialoueg... although I would tend to want to do it manualy.

Keep up the good work,

Rhysling

yeah, i really dont like the beetle too much myself. i think im going to try to change it.
i have painted in the past(traditionally), and i do color comic art in photoshop, just never "painted". i usually just try to bite liquids style(with a little of my own style in there). heres an example.
