Hello all,

Here are some recent pieces. All are in photoshop. I'm still trying to wrestle with Painter 6. I'm working on one piece with it to get that "traditonal" look. It's posted here: http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000302.html

This one is a color study done for an oil painting. I think it looks okay by itself, but hopefully the oil painting will look much more spontaneous.

This one started as a watercolor/acrylic painting. I then scanned it into photoshop and reworked a lot of it. I didn't quite get the look I wanted, so now I'm doing an oil painting version of it to see if that'll be any better.

This is a recent piece used as a texture in a game. I painted it in photoshop, and it's mapped onto a big polygon at the end of a dark cave tunnel. It's kind of an experiement to conserve on polygons by "faking" the look of more stuff deeper into the cave without actually building more geometry. I wanted to make this one as photo-realistic as possible, but I also didn't want to actually use photos. Now I think I should've used photos. Spooge, if you are around, any suggestions on how to achieve the illusion of photo-realism without using photos?

I think Painter would really help the cave image. Get some good paper textures, get more textures in there, make it a lot sharper. Remmeber that in a game the biggest difference you notice with an image like this trying to blend in with a polygonal cave is the sharpness of the edges(since the texture is filtered down, and usually low res to start with).

Hey, good point about the sharpness. I'll try it now the next time a similar situation comes up. Thanks!

Ahhh. I get a lot of requests to sell that one. I've had it since I was 16. It's about 8 1/2 X 11, on a cheap sketch paper that gets all fibery when you scratch too hard on it. I used a cheap plastic felt-tip pen. I actually drew that during a safety ed class when I got really bored.

I'm glad ou like it. It's one of the few pieces of mine that doesn't stink too hard.

Lunatigue: I was just thinking about doing some new pictures of Alyssia.. those are a few years old, when I was just learning photoshop.

I like your forgiveness picture the best.
