Ermm. I don't really know what else to say. I was having a bad time with my wacom so I sketched something instead.
I played around with it a bit when it was scanned in.
Any comments or crit welcome.

Very very cool. Like it. One thing that could make the guy look..... handsomer I guess is lwoer the hair line. The current one seems REALLY high on the head. (But then again....it's a cartooning style and hey it looks ok But other than that, cool warrior. |

Nice, i like it. The background is great too. One thing that really bugs me is the front guy's sword. The handle actually looks like its going under the back guy's shoulder pad. Gives it a weird perspective. |

Nice work. I like the guys outfit very much.
I'll make two remarks though:
Hands of the back character could be a litlle more detailed and his head slighty bigger (just slightly)
The path coming from the city just disapear in the hairs of the front guy. Why don't you make it zigzag toward the front and right? |

Looks good.
But to me it looks too much like shape drawing. You know what I mean? |

Thanks all
Eviltoylet: Thanks, I thought he was looking a little old.
Shardik: After looking at the pic, I don't like either hands. The full body pic, is realy terrible.
Delucubus:I can't believe I didn't see that!
Thanks.
Al_kgs: Yeah you're right. I really rushed the background. I did the pic in one big chunk when I should have taken a break.
Dan: Yes, yes they are
El Caseron: Sorry I don't know what shape drawing is, could you please tell me? I'm interested!
Thanks AdezJ, I might do a colour pic one day, but not this one.

Hey JasoN,
I don't really know if there's a word like this in English. Well, whatever, I try to describe:
I know that shape-drawing from my own pictures. I never used references and drawed my own characters over and over again. Not able to draw them another way. Always the same faces and stuff. I was (and probably still am) drawing only shapes that formed in my head over the years. It's hard to get away from them. I dunno if it's the same in your case.
Just looked like it to me... don't be offended if not... |

I love the shading tho. And that is something you can use always till you stop drawing |

No I'm not offended at all, just curious. .
I understand what you mean about shape drawing. But I don't understand any other way of drawing.
I've always been told to construct the face from shapes. It leads to solid construction of a sketch and shows understanding of what you're drawing.
I don't really know any other method to approach drawing. Could you give me an example of how you work? I'm very interested.
I can draw other faces and things if that's what you're wondering. I just love the badass, stubbly look.
When I said they are twins, I was kidding. The two men in this pic are the same person. I just wanted to do a full body pic and a close up. Sorry if you were confused.

Oh never mind. It's ok then. Didn't analyse the posts too good.
I'm to blame
Yeah, sure you build your drawings from shapes, butwhat I meant was something different:
With "shape" I was more talking bout the whole thing. For example one draws a head the first time. He copies from some newspaper. By not practicing he will stay at that head. Not able to do something else. But it's ok, you're not like that... excuse me! |
