I tend to judge my work too much, and deslike a lot of my pieces. I would like to know if anyone else feels this way? Although I am satisfied with it, I think I can do much better. Anyway enough talk. Here is the image.

i like the style of the piece.. my only issue with it is that the eye is immediately drawn to the black... i dont know how to change that on this piece tho + i think you should take the title of the piece out of it
just my 2cents tho really

Thanks for replying.
Yes I do agree with you, I felt myself that this is a very week composition. But I really don't know how to fix that in this piece.
Cheers

Hey that's cool.
I got a suggestion for the whole "eye-drawn-to-black" problem.. Don't know if this'll work, but maybe have a crowd of people dancing around a bon-fire in that area.. Not too sure if that'll help, but it'll generate some sense of depth and possibly solve the whole "eye-drawn-to-black" problem.
You could also crop that black area and lengthen the picture and add some sky with the moon and stuff, but that's just another suggestion.
Anyway, looks fancy!

Nice story and nice colours. I think you shouldn't crop the image. In my opinion, if you add more darker shadows to ground from those bumbs and from figure you should more balanced picture. Edges of the shadow guides your eye to look the character. The head still needs work (maybe screaming red hair?)
...well thats my point of view...there are others

Dom: I always feel that way about my work. I always end up hating it and feeling that I could do som much better, spotting flaws all over, even right before finishing an image like it's the case with an image I'm "finishing" now.
I like the fire, but I think the hue is too green in general, should possibly be more orangey. |

-marty-: Yes he is bold, if you look up Joe Satriani you will know what I meant . Great guitarist, and I really mean great.
bell_maker: Thanks meens a lot to me
Bare Bonez: That moon idea is great, or even maybe another scene there would be great. Thanks for the feedback. I also thought about croping it, I still have to think about that though.
Eorand: thanks for the ideas. The hair idea I like although I want to keep it somewhat realistic.
Frost: It's good to know I am not the only one. I feel the exact same way sometimes, that I should have used so much color, or that angle, or even that composition. That makes me feel better coming from such a respected individual. Thanks Frost, I really like your work. Experimentation is often neccessary.
Thanks for the welcome I think I'll be back with more soon.

I hate about everything I post 2 seconds after I posted it. I see all the flaws and errors only when its already 'too late'.
you could go a bit brighter in the fire and on the lit side of the figure maybe.
if that's Satriani then he should have his reflective JS Ibanez Custom model and his cool sunglasses in that pic

Thanks Nex, I feel the same way
Yeah youre right, I gave him sunglasses, won't do much if he is on fire though hehe just joking.
Thanks to you all for all the input, have redone it a bit and I hope it helps. I think I am done off to another idea.
