I have been drawing on this today. It's finished, but I know it has some issues. I think this one was quite difficult to get right. I used a photo-reference.
Who can it be? (Micke, hint: it is not Ringo Starr )
Well, I hope you like it, critics are welcome.

I like it. Nice perspective. The background on the bottom left side could be smoothed out though. |

The background atracts your attention but if you blured it you would solve this |

Very nice, i really like the ears, the translucency of the left one (on our right) is excellent.
Is it Nicolas Cage ? |

I like it!
I agree with the background. make it more simple and tone down the contrasts. The only thing that bothers me with the face is the black that you've used. Try to use maybe a more warmer colour.
It looks a bit like you have "sot" in your face right now Othervise from that it looks cool! And yeah, i love the ears, Ringo

Ok guys, thanks for the critics, I have done something with the background now. But I don't think the blur filter is the answer, Rangarok. Nothing else on the drawing is blurred or smudged out. I just tried to draw it more smoothly.
Mime: Thanks. Nicolas Cage... No, it's actually a self portrait. The "Micke" hint was just internal... Micke thinks I look like Ringo Starr. Hopefully, no one else does.
Micke: Thanks. I tried to do something with the background now. And yes, it's too much black. I tried to make easter-like, cold colors. One thing that bothers me, is that pictures drawn on Macs usually comes out darker on Windows machines. Well, off to check your new thread.

really nice one ... it looks really kewl
the background should be smoothed a little bit .. you can see the brush strokes in the first one .... you could try the blur tool in photoshop to do this
nice one .. keep it up

I like the new background, like rays of light coming from above.
well it looked like a bit like nocolas cage (eyes, ear and shape of the head i think)
But now that you mention it it also looks like ringo starr, yes. |

Maybe the blur tool isn't the option, but if you use the airbrush tool with softer edges and intermediate values you could get a smooth gradient. Anyways it looks much better now |

Nice to get positive response...
It seems that you guys would like me to polish this one up, smugde it out... Well, that could have been nice, but in this picture I have only used the paintbrush tool with different opacities. So I'd like it to stay that way. A little rough... But EviLToYLeT, (S)layer and Ragnarok, I very well see your points that the background is too messy, and I can work it out with the paintbrush tool. All it takes is time. Atleast it is what it should take.
Toast: Hi again my friend from France! Glad you liked it. AND.... Your guess is right. I am on a Mac. I'm happy you mentioned the brightness/contrast thing... If you put your gamma values to 1.8 instead of the usual 2.2, the pic should be fine. That's what they say, sp please don't shoot me if it don't work out. I have built a PC now, so I can have both Mac and PC. Windows 98 sucks! I'm trying to have both 98 and 2000 on my PC, and I think I messed it up big time! Anyway, I should try to get my images brighter anyway, and stay away from black.
Ceenda: Thanks.
Jess: Thank U
Micke: "Sot?" Det er kruttryk for faen! I think the english word for "sot" is "soot". But I'm not sure.. |

believe it or not, but I haven't noticed this image from you kjetil....I've been a bit too lazy lately.
Anyway, damn cool ! Nice angle and very nice painted too. Looks like you, I think (?)..atleast from the photos I've seen that micke has shown me. I know I've met you before, but long time ago and you didn't have white hair

Hi Joachim, thanks!
The white hairs is from tons of worry's and bleachers.... mmmno, just bleachers.
Anyway, now I just have 4-5 mm of hair, was tired of being a blondie.

I really like the colours and the angle. I think it'd be even cooler if you made those dark strokes into overhead branches. |

Hiya Kjetil!
I really think your painting skills are excellent. I like the original portrait with the less smoothed strokes. It's a nice style.
I am anxious to see more of your 3d work and await your next renders. You have a special talent which I quite envy.
Yer old pal,
ROY |
