I haven't done anything lately thats taken over 2 hours. This one did. I was sitting around and couldn't think of any character ideas, until I finally decided to draw me and my friends. Fro left to right are characters BASED on:
Me, cept thiner and with a beard
Shaun, the easy going playful one
Femi (short for Alluafemi Aderemi Daniel Ajayi, Not sure if I got that one right femi, sorry) The athletic energy adict.
Hope you like it, I think it's finished, if not, just tell me.
There's a story here, but as usual, I'm not telling

Cool pic Isric and a very nice concept too! The head of the middle dude seems a little big but it's a cartoon so it doesn't matter too much. The colours in the pic seem to go niceley. You look like you're scheming? Plotting an evil plan!

Great picture isric. I really like the emotions you've captured on the faces of the characters. The middle one looks so happy with his dolls....the right one so serious about his weight lifting...and th eleft one..rofl that guys ploitting something. Just one wierd thing i notice is the two black lines that seem to be the table..... might want to change that.

Love it, Matticus! Especially the chairs, I want one... The colors are awesome, and it's nice to see a pic of yours where you spent more time on it than usual, harhar. I could go on about it, as most of your art of course, but I'll spare everyone. =) So did Femi shave his head? Or did you just feel like coloring him bald in the same way you grew a beard? (laughs) It's a nice beard, but I was always more of a goatee chica. =)

by the way, just a personal note, I really don't like how the third figure turned out. He looks really dumb.

Hey, nice image going here, as usual, Isric. S'not my favorite from you, seems a little boring to me I guess but nonetheless I really dig your drawing style. I tend to think about Disney films or the Prince of Egypt when I see your characters...their proportions and facial features seem to be fooled with in much the same ways.

Question though, how do you like to paint: with the opacity checked on or off (I'm for some reason assuming you use Photoshop here, not sure if Painter has a similar option) I'm curious as to how some of the various painters on the board work. Personally I started out checking the Opacity box which gave me a somewhat painterly look like in this image from a while ago but I've recently left it unchecked. It's forcing me to choose colors more wisely but it also leaves stuff looking too cartoony. Anyways, just posing the question to various people on the boards...I'm always curious I guess.

But keep up the nice work man! It's talent like yours that keeps me visiting the boards.

Thats the picture! I was trying to remember it, absolutely perfect dream lighting.
Anyway, no more rant.
When I use painter its always full opacity, as though I've got the thickest paint in the world. In PS, I go in first with no opacity, then I handle values and what-not with the opacity on.
Not sure if that helps, but hey, thanks for the compliments

I like that image a lot. I don't the third guy looks dumb, but he would look better with out trying to do exercise in a relaxed way. I would change that arm to make him in a more relaxed and confident way, although I don't know how the real guy is, so maybe I'm going in the wrong direction

Heh, it's nice to be remembered. I still have to find time to go back and finish that piece up...gotta do justice to what I consider my first digital painting

But yeah, that helps. I'd usually forego the non-opacity-checked beginning and just keep the box checked front start to finish. I've actually started my current three pieces much like you've explained by blocking it in and then checking the box to get softer gradations. We'll see how they come out. That and I need to get some time to fool with my Wacom version of Painter. I'm still trying to experiment with many different ways of attacking paintings.

Anyway, enough rambling. Got plenty of work to do Keep these great images coming.

oh I like that one
the first two characters are great

crits?..hmmm maybe the head of the second guy is a bit too big compared to the others
;the ear of the third guy is a bit too big and flat and his pose bothers me a bit

but as mentioned I like the pic as it is

Another quirky piece. I think that the bg could use something in it as it looks slightly uninteresting but maybe you've done that so the attention goes towards the characters. I like the designs for the characters, a ranger, a wizard and a warrior. The men on the left and right look as though they're having some sort of posing standoff.
I have to agree with silber that the middle character's head looks big compared with the others.
