Like a lot of the other newbies on the board I just received a Wacom tablet for Christmas. Now, I've been drawing and sketching on plain old paper for years (no traditional painting experience at all), but "painting" in Photoshop is totally new to me.
I'd like to know what you guys think of my first attempt.
... And just for fun, something I did while I was bored the other night:

Also, just to mention it, my main goal is to come as close to photo-realism as possible -- eventually.

These are actually pretty cool, especially the face.
The face could benefit from more color variations - like the nose is usually slightly redder than other parts of the face, as are the lips. That sort of thing.
The glow around the apple tends to distract from the applie itself - makes it ill-defined - and the shading of the leaves makes them look quite rounded rather than flat.
Good though.
Row.

Looks good, the apple is "cute" if that word applies to that face it has. heh. The guys head...his face seems to curve to the right below the eyes. I do that more than I'll admit. Good job, I like the colours, but agree about the skin variation. |

Haha, thanks for the response, Rowan.
I remember downloading "Morbo" back in the day.
Thanks to you too, Zen. I'll keep both of your suggestions in mind next time. |
