It has been some time since I visited these forums. Great to see it is still here.

Here is a pic I did some time ago when i was last on. My new years resolution is to complete more then one pic a year and (I certainly hope) get better at it.

The short version of my own critique is that I never quite figured out how to get the metal of the armor etc to look like it should. Plus some of the lines of the line drawing itself just seem to float over the smoother rendering of color underneath, especially look at that legs to see this problem. And although I wanted to avoid going into too much detail all over the place some places are just screaming for it, like the wood for the sheild. Of course it is also just a floating image but at least it is somewhat finished.

Anyway, crituque away. Great to be back.

Nice pic! There's something funky going on with his mouth though.. I don't know how to explain this really (I feel dumb) but it looks like he's just been punched from the left (our left) on his lower jaw. Maybe this was intenden but I thought I'd point it out anyway. Otherwise it's a really sweet pic and as you said yourself - the shield wouldn't die from getting a little bit of texture ;)

Btw... your New Year's resolution is pretty similar to mine :)

/Jim

Looks good... but... a few bits do seem slightly skewed - the lower jaw (as pointed out above) And he does seem to be off balance (as if he is falling over backwards).

The textures could do with a bit more work - I assume that the legs etc would be furry. And the chainmail needs more detail.

Ampa.

Hey Suma, someone already made that joke today so yours doesn't count.

Thanks for the replies. I do see the alignment problem between upper and lower jaw. His feet were never quite right since I never initially thought about drawing them (it was going to be part of a larger battle scene) and it probably would have helped if I gave him balance and stance before fleshing out the rest of the drawing. It was one of those drawings that started with just a head and then grew from there. Those always get more problematic for me when I try to add to them later.

I may try to fix him up later. For now I'm going to work on new stuff. maybe I'll try adding to the Mech thread.
