I spent ages trying to draw the two hobbits behind the big stone but gave up and put them in the hole!
Any crits, as always, are very much appreciated, though I don't know if I'll add anything new to this sketch but any advice would be useful for future pics.

Hi ceenda!
That sketch made me laugh! Man, those little hobbits are awesome and the tree too and the li'l bird's nest and everything! I like the expression on the tree awfully much.
The only thing I can say that I don't like about this sketch are those two cans of paint but that's no biggie..
I'm new to posting here but I've read the forums for a good five or six months and I've seen alot of your other work and I must say that some of them are really amazing!
Keep up the good work!

The most I like is how the ligh comes from the clouds. The effect is neat and clear.
Meanwhile the paint cubes have not volume and the rough lines break the soft line work of the image.
The birds are cool too. I like the way you drawed them and the wind effect. But the wind isnt followed by all the elements (the grass is too vertical, and in the tree is confusing.
About the main topic: the hobbits:
Hehe You shouldnt have give up, you should have tried harder!
But this is a really funny solution.
Congratulations "lazy-boy" !!!

COOL! I love it. But I don't get that thing with the hobbits.
Isn't that ...er...thing one of the Ents? The Entleader? German translation of his name is "treebeard". And if so... aren't the hobbits supposed to ride on his branches anyway?
Anyways... I love it! Keep it coming |

Jim S: Thanks for the comments.
I know what you mean about the paint cans. I had originally thought about having the 2 Hobbits behind the rock holding the paint cans but decided just to have the paint cans on their own and it doesn't look quite right.
Sempere: Cheers! I agree with all the points you make, some good points there as well, thanks! He he he, I promise to include the hobbits in future!
El Caseron: Thanks. The hobbits are hiding in the hole! As for the translation of the name, the name of the picture file is treebeard.jpg, so I know what you mean.

Man. This board is crazy now. Don't even have time to check it . Anyway, very cool picture. I'd have to say the way you put the paint caints in was very clever where some letters on one cain and then the other As stated by others really awesome. Some thigns are missing shadows though... like the post..but nah, i think it's just part of your style giving shsadows to only main charachters right? Hope to see much more..."whiteout brown paper bag works" ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

ceenda - what kind of paper/materials did you work with? it might be interesting to start with midtones and add highlights and shadows.

EviLToYLeT: Cheers.
arniemg: Followed up those links, some interesting stuff there, thanks.
Nova: Actually, I used Photoshop with a brown background, black paintbrush at 100% variable Opacity and some white added using the Aarbrush and the paintbrush tools.
