I have never really painted before, so I need a lot of practice, but..... I dont want the paint style to be very blurry, or smooth, I am going for a much more "thick" look. Only a few shades of grey & white, thick color swatches.

I know that there are a million painting How To's, but I thought it would be cool to maybe get a couple paint overs, and comments and critz of course.

anything welcome.

I have included one with my rough sketch showing through so the image will make a little more sense.

with lines:

thanks.

It looks pretty good to me Can't wait to see the final. Only crits are that the guy looks a little too calm I suppose...I'd be up and running or at least falling all over myself trying to if something like that came after me. Maybe a little more definition in the guy too...I didn't really get the pose until I saw the rough sketch but it's a WIP so no big deal, you were probably going to fix it any way. good pic!

thanks for the comments. They are a real help. I need to put a lot more time into this (Boss not being around my desk allowing...). I was hoping to make it look like the guy is looking in the wrong direction (missing the monster), but with such little light I dont know if I will be able to get that across.

I think that I might take you advice and make him reacting to the monster instead.

Thanks.
