Hi there!
I'm trying to get a convincing light situation in this painting.
But I don't quite succeed in getting the correct values. The light should mainly come from a lamp outside the house, right beside the door. It should be a weak light bulb casting a yellowish light on this gentleman.
Don't mind the incorrect lighting of the door frame, it's not adapted to the new lighting situation yet, and don't mind the long arms, I'll correct them in an instance
But for now: thx for any c&cs |

As far as I can judge this from a pic that is WIP i like it. I do not consider the walls as being to thin, but i will wait until it is done... |

the light source actually seems pretty good imo, but I'm not the best authority on that subject. What I did want to point out that bothers me is on the last picture...nothing about the actual art, but the composition I guess it would be called. There's just something about the "camera angle" that I find visually unappealing. I looked at him and realized that since his head is so close to the top of the door, he must be fairly tall, and the angle at which you have us looking gives us the feeling of being taller than him (? or maybe it's just me...) which isn't very dramatic. It's like, if I were you, I'd exted the picture down to show more of him than just his upper half or something...it seems cropped right now imo. I realize this is a WIP so don't take the crit the wrong way if that is what you intended though. And then there's that segment of blank wall...are you going to put something there? I don't know, I just can't quite "get" the placement on the last pic. However, the art itself is quite good and I can't wait to see where it goes. Good luck! |

yeah, you are right about the camera angle. the left "wall" is supposed to be a door, and it will get some grooves and a window in the middle sometime ;P
I just tested it myself under a door, and if I wore a hat I would be about that height in relative to the door, too. I'm about 6 feet or 1.80 m tall.
But perhaps I'd really draw it higher rather than wider. But I hope I then don't interferre with the field of vision :/
Well, I'll see after I have attached the door knob, the grooves and the window.
Thx for the crits! |
