Well This is a long project I am doing... I am putting everything I know about 3Dmax into this model... which is not a whole lot but more than enough to make a decent model
My inspiration is pretty obvious... anime...
the model took me around 2 weeks 2-5 hours or so per day...
the skin of this robot is taking twice as long lol...
here is the bare model with out any fancy skin...
a skin to make it more complicated looking... this is only the start of the arm section...
I only have the skin acting as bump mapping and speculer lighting... but I will make seprate skins for that later...
hope you like I will try to keep this updated as much as possible.
The idea is to make whole scene with this robot so this is only 20% of the work...
I would later... much later attempt to animate this robot... though atm I have NO knowledge on how to do so... |

The model isn't that bad - I feel the biggest problem is that the abdominal "muscles" seem too far in, making it look a bit weird.
Hazardous, and ugly (sorry, my fault ) overpaint/smudge deal to make my point.
I bet the skin is going to make a world of difference though, hope you post it when finished!

yep I agree it does look a bit over done I can fix that rather easy
The torso has also been fixed a bit more since this version... it is the one spot that I really dislike atm. |

agree about the hands, not too fond of his "high heels" either.. though the arm with textures on looks good. If you apply that to a reworked model: tadaa!! |

well the title was a bit to make people get here... and also becuase i has some triats though i tried to maintain orginality with it.
school has started so this will go lots slower now thanks for the comments Ill make sure at making the hands bigger and modfing some other parts.
The feet are ok IMHO I sorta like that kind of feet.
It is acually more based on the old robotech mechs more than anything. Except for the sharpe edges. |

Don't wana quit sound 'bad' but like it doesnt really look like any anime design ive seen the proportions could be a bit different to make it more mean though |

taltin exactly what i meant by proportions.. and there are actually curvy smooth ones.. but the proportions are way different this suit looks very weak and like hmm a human could beat it to scraps with bare fists or maybe a bat... erm anyways it would be VERY important if u wana make it animesque to make the hands larger the feet oh hell ya waay bigger like here check out my model i made recently its not to compare since its a low poly model (game model):

Sorry if its dark, its meant to be since quake3 engine lights up the skin a lot.. anyways note the huge feet for example and i cant give a descent example of hands since its a low poly model (just boxy hands...) but.. point is u gotta pump it up :/ u dont have to but.. ya.. |

One more thing... well add more armor pieces yes... looks too naked/weak, but the area around 'neck' it looks empty... add gyros of sorts perhaps too somewhere here and there, hydraulics. I dont know what to think of right now im sorta tired I hope im being helpful |

I like it.. everybody already posted great suggestions on how to improve it. I would just make the knee joints look stronger. It looks like that's the weakest point.. an enemy mech pilot would shoot straight to the knees and disable it quickly... |

gigatron thanks I like your ideas but that is not my vision of it... I will make things look stronger but not bulky like un movable and slow... I want it to look more close to a humman. the legs look weak the feet are fine I like them. the arms are ok atm the hands do need to be slight bigger. Chest looks flat and really out of place i will change that whole section. The neck does look weak also I will change that... but my intention is to make it look closer to a humman type scales.
So yeah I will change things so they look less weak but not bulk it up like some anime robots. I am mixing in my own ideas getting hints from anime but I am not making anime
yep the title said it lol oh well got your attention right?
No real luck on when I will have an update guys thanks for all the comments I am very busy at school atm and other game projects... so I do not have enough time for this atm I wish I did but well life is life hehe |

looks good so far, people have some good suggestions here. The skin is looking really good too, the only problem i have is that it looks to plastic. Try making the highlight brighter and sharper, having broad fadded highlights makes objects look like plastic. Also you've got some bullet holes and scratches but other than that it looks like he came hot off the presses. Try making him look a little more dirty overall other than just nearly solid colors, it'll really add to the realisim. Keep it updated I'd like to see what you do with this. |

Then again who is to say he can't be nice and tidy? Maybe he has a new type of plastic that doesn't take any damage and the robot is so advanced it has it's own little tiny mouse robot that goes out and cleans him all up so he looks spiffy for that job interview with the galactic tribe or Bretherax? Just ignore me
It is coming along very nicely though |
