Ok, I'm playing around and trying to teach myself how to draw. For the most part (as we will soon see), I can't.
Anyrate, I doodled this at work one day, and have been trying to play with my new scanner and figure it out. Thought I would share this and ask the following questions (inline PNG):
For a larger version...
I know my anatomy is a little off and that it has no neck, but as I rework it and keep trying to improve upon it, what do you think I focus on? Either that I did all wrong, or that you think is important to the character?
I'm debating fuzzy body, fuzzy ears, skull head/face. Maybe gorilla like (no fuzz, but muscles) chest and stomach. Any thoughts on that as to how it would look or how you might do it?
And ignoring the horrible anatomy on the arms I was sketching to the side (at least I think they are horribly wrong), do you think a thick arm to basically a stub with claws protruding would look best? Or the tapered arm to the small, claw filled hand?
I like the tapered arm personally. Especially if i have the fur/hair long enough to fall down, along side the claws. (Kinda like two arms on the right)
Feel free to rip it apart. This was just a doodle that I liked and tried to expand upon. As I learn I'm going to try and actually make it good.

(Must think of defense so fool proof no one will question it.......)
Uhmm. No.
(Wheh)
Actually, yeah I think it is. I drew it at about the same time I think as I saw the first trailer. I'd say more a cousin of Gizmo really though. |

I find those the easiest in many ways. For him espcially as I just drew the side and traced lines over for all of the feature sizes. I can't draw him from an angle at all though. |

Try to break your character down in 3d shapes and understand how those are placed compared to one another. Then doing a 3/4 view is much more accurate than guesswork.
Cheers ! |
