Oki, Hi all. Ive been watching these forums for some time now, just getting HUGE amounts of inspiration!! And now Im slowly moving more and more from a more graphic design into the concept/digital art, design world.
Ive allways doddled but now its time to get serious with this stuff

Enough dable. Heres my first pic I need some help with:

Dragon [Tombo marker-inc]

I know its a bit abstract, but I kinda like it that way. Originaly an Ian Miller piece I saw way back when in some Tolkien book (I think it was an helmet ornament)

Im getting an Wacom tablet in a week, so what should I think about in rendering ?

Thank you!

the dragon looks nice, and so does the rock (?) he's sitting on, but each is rendered using a totally different style- and although i think both styles are visually appealing, they don't get along too well side by side.
Another thing that bothers me is the cropping of the image- it seems like you tried to create the smallest possible image by cutting it exactly at the extremities of the dragon, rather than considering the placement of the dragon within your image space. same goes for the background- even a single well chosen fill color could enhance the atmosphere and credibility of the entire piece.

I hope it wasn't too harsh for a first crit

I'm with Bilbo. The head usually needs more detail than the rest of the figure, makes the image easier lookin'.

Yep, welcome and all that

I never actually thought about the 2 diff styles, now I know.
You are also right about the cropping, I was just able to fit the pic in the scanner and just saved as jpg... When I get my WACOM Ill get to work on it and the update, until then, Thank you.
