Hey, well I started posting my beginings of this guy a ways back, never got a chance to work on him some more until recently. That post was lost due to the downtime I guess. So I added some of the old post to show the changes (some drastic!) with the help of some crits from you guys I was very inspired by the look of Kimahri from FFX in case you noticed a slight similarity.
Quick recap-this is a Guardian warrior. Come from a city perched high in the mountains of a distant land(cliche I know) in the clouds (hope to draw this landscape soon). They are generally a peacefully people, but are occasionally put to the test by marauders looking for the treasures that are supposedly kept in the city. This Guardian, named Haris L'Howeh (yep, there's a story behind it, lol) is part of the Elite Guard (hence his headwear, which is also aerodynamic. This group is extremely successful flyers and so, wear little armor, if no armor, and also because it would weigh them down. Haris carries with him a pouch of mage, filled with little trinkets to bring him luck and safety. His weapon is scarce and is not meant to kill, only to disable.
But the on to the post! After some crits from fellow members, I changed him drastically, then added touches here and there, fixing his stance, and posture, etc. I think I am almost done. I don't think he's that great at all, but i'm proud of him! Took me a while. Want to know if there is anything else I should add/change before I attempt to color (for the FIRST time!) So and C&C would be VERY appreciated!:chug:

the anatomy of your creation does not appear to be accurate.
for example, examining the final drawing, the insertion of the deltoid is too far distal down the humerus.. it inserts into the proximal fifth of the humerus, not midshaft
furthermore, the biceps does not take a ball-like form when the elbow is in extension, it is a rather long muscle originating a lot more proximal that what you have drawn
the thumb is also too small compared to the rest of the hand..
... that is a brief C&C of the arm alone, consult an anatomy text and your drawings will be a lot more precise/realistic/kickass..
also, the mask on his face doesnt seem to be very well fitting.. (?intentional?) |

I always find it funny when (no offense to you DrDel) people talk about anatomy on off earth beings. Sure, he looks somewhat simular to man, but since when could we all fly? I mean, he's so different in some ways, how come his muscles can't be different too??? Ok, so this guy may be from somewhere on earth, but I mean, if he has wings, having his muscles in a different way is a small thing, right? lol
Only thing I noticed was that the helmet seemed of center on his face. Like the center of the helmet was squeesing his nose and face towards His left side of the face (our right). |

DrDel - Thanks for the points. I didn't realize some of the things you pointed out, and I'll try to work on that deltoid. As far as his bicep though, I tried to show him with a certain amount of tension in his arm, by way of him flexing his hand like that, showing he is tightening his entire arm (and thus bicep). But you're right in that it wouldn't pop out that much... if he were human. He's not human, so I figured I'd have more leeway!
dARKCLOWN- still nothing!?
Juan - Thanks for seeing what I meant! I give DrDel credit for knowing his anatomy and trying to help though! And you are def right about the mask. At first, I want him to be a sort of "unwilling" soldier, one who went against the beliefs of the people, who spoke too much, and so they made him wear a mask to pretty much "symbolically" shut him up. But it DOES look pressed up against him and tilted. I'll work on that.
Any thing else!? |
