So here's my first real attempt at a polygon head. It's done in Maya, mostly using TheHobbitGuy's techniques.

I've got to the point where I can't see what's wrong or right with it anymore, and need some outsiders to take a look at it and give me some criticism. That's where you come in

Please excuse the blue - I got bored of looking at grey all the time

Oh yeah, have a wireframe shot:

If you've got any comments before I start work on the details, I'd like to hear them.

Cheers
Cat

pretty cool man. I hope i will do something simillar one day

anyway i thing there are some problems here. If yore heading for realism you should make eyes a little smaller. The nose you should tweek it as on the pic :

and his ears. Their are to close to back of his head

anyway great work so far

Hmmm...thanks for the tip on the nose, I've added a bit more detail there now. As for the ears...I can't figure them out. Whenever I start moving them forwards it looks wrong.
Here's a view from perfectly side on. Still think they're too far back?

Hmmm...maybe his face is a little too flat. Should the eyes curve back a bit more?

Hi,
very nice, very smooth... I think too smooth, mybe you could add some skin-details, like skars ore thomething like that.

Hope it will help.

OK, a quick update.

I'm still working on wrinkles and other tiny details - I still haven't found a decent means of doing it that I'm happy with. The actual shape of the model is done, however. I think. Maybe.
Still working on the skin texture too.

His jawline goes too far back, and inward. When viewing the front of the face, you should be able to see the ears. The cheekbones could be rounded more, they strike me as a bit triangular.

I thin kthat you need to give him a little more on the back of the head.. take a look at a skull and you rwill see that there is more back there than you've modeled and I thkn that you need to work on adding more flesh to the nose and nostrils
