This is something I am working on. I have a whole series of these styled drawings, with people and red stars. It isnt done yet, as you can see. The "axe" is a hammer, btw, i have to change that. And the backround will be a sickle holding the american flag. She \is\ nude, so if your offended, dont go down. The biggest warning would be that its in .gif, meaning it isnt high quality, but its the best I can get it to show up. C and C please.

good shape, and the anatomy is all there, now work on it some more. The hand isnt right. If thats her thumb its all wrong, if its her index finger, where is her thumb? If she is holding it between her index finger and middle finger, thats wierd and nobody would want to hold that big of a hammer between their fingers. COol so far, hurry up and get more done. |

The skin might be able to use more contrast. Also, that star on her right shoulder doesn't look like it wraps around her shoulder. It looks more like it's sticking out over her shoulder :O. |

I'm thinking it looks like you found a nice chick picture, got rid of the background, smudged & blurred the skin, had some trouble with the hair, since you seem to be working at a too low resolution (judging from the fat black airbrush lines here and there, the level(lack) of detail in the hair & hand as opposed to the subtle and correct muscles and folds in the womans back).
That would probably also explain why you seem to be unable to make it look like she's "interacting" with the hammer, and maybe also why the hammer have such low detail and "flat vertical perspective" compared to the much more elaborate anatomical details ...
I'm not saying that this is in any way illegal or a terrible thing to do, it's probably a good way to learn, but you should probably let people know that you used this method, and it's not really something that is very interesting to look at for other artists ... but that's just me ... maybe someone could be fooled ... maybe I'm wrong ... but it looks a lot like a smudged photo job ... a collage if you will ...
... as for your experimentation with image formats, gif is generally used for imagery with few colors ... like cartoon style drawings. png is supposedly the "jack of all formats" that is not getting the attention it ought to have, probably because most people are happy enough with the jpg format commonly used by the artists here at sijun ... |
