Well dont give me this "dont paint with white bg" because the sky and ground is gunna be CG grass and clouds with an overlayer of Painter...Ive worked 35 hrs on this heh..timed myself..enjoy.. and his head ISNT shrunken..the armor is huge..

cool pose, and i like the texture. But the way you are shading the picture only makes it look less good.
1. It look like you just go with black over the places where you want the shadov.
2. Define more the light sorce |

Yes, now that I look at it again, the whole picture looks a tad 'flat'. If you squint your eyes the values are close, there is no strong light or shadow. If you are going to paint CG grass I assume it's an outdoor scene, so unless it's a very cloud covered sky you need to have more light in there, that's why I read it's better to paint a bg first, to make sure you get the correct light.
Here's a suggestion to help with the light and shadows : paint your background with color, just flat color, doesnt need CG yet, but make sure you paint your bg in the overall hue and lightness it will be, this will help to get your highlights right. |
