I gave up on paintball these days. But this is what followed [please make sure you read the note below that image!!!]:

NOTE: I use this for pure recreational reasons. For the 'fireworks effect'. At the range on paper-targets only - NOTHING ELSE.

I'm not a believer in self/home protection or any of those other stupid concepts. I think the NRA are a bunch of weirdos and have nothing to do with them.
I only take it out to the range to shoot targets. When it's at home it's locked in a steel-case with a padlock - there's also no ammo at home. I buy what I shoot at the range.

I'm also not a believer in violence - wether through firearms or otherwise. But - there is a vertain fascination with guns in the male nature. I gave into that. My thoughts were "Hey - this is America - people are allowed to have guns - not like in Austria ... hmmmm ..."

I'm sure it's just a phase too - once I lose interest it will be sold immeadetly.

But you've got to admit one thing - it looks fucking cool, doesn't it. Reminds me of 'Trigun' ...

There actually /are/ reasons to own a gun beyond machismo. I grew up in Sierra City California, where bears and cougars out-number people. I remember looking out my window when I was seven and seeing a 400 kilo brown looking right back at me. When bears are that close to civilization, they lose their fear of humans, so the traditional "scream and wave your arms" tactic isn't always effective . . . its good to know that someone near you has a weapon.

More frequent was that you would find a wounded deer near the highway, and have to finish it off.

Its easy to forget about that kind of stuff if you live in an urban area, but big parts of America are still wilderness, and guns are an accepted neccessity.

*pets his actual, physical Desert Eagle*

You know, in a couple of counties in New Mexico, it's illegal for one NOT to have a gun. Literally. Balistic knows what I mean.

I'm personally scared to death of guns as people-killers, but I'm a big outdoorsy type who goes hunting a lot. Guns are much different then.

guns are given a bad name by people who use them irresponsibly...It's interesting to hear how usefull they are in some areas...

Well, for me it'sust for fun. That's it. Paper is my worst enemy. Even though - I have that old 14" Apple monitor in my garage ... nevermind.

Impaler: ha! That puppy has a third more muzzle-energy than a .50 DE.

Panda: Recoil is quite stout - about a third to two thirds more than a .44 mag. Depends on what ammo. The port helps keeping it down and the grip is excellent. But I usually wear gloves because my wrist needs to be protected.
But the most impressive thing is the shockwave - it's like a concrete wall that manifests out of nowhere in a fraction of a sec ... Usually after I've shot the first cylinder, the whole shooting range is behind me - checking out what's going on ...

usually when we go riding we set up cans n crap and shot em down

(when i say riding, thats dirtbiking(motorcycles) out in the desert, yes theres people out there riding also, but we make sure we shoot at a mountain and keep our eye out for passerbys)
last time there was a cop out with us... damn did he have some artilary....

I think they're releasing the Trigun guns as models actually. I doubt you could take it down to the range and shoot a faulty wacom tablet with it. but Still I just thought I'd mention it.

i used to sharpshoot. although back then for age reasons i was limited to .22's, which are just fine for shooting range target blasting. it's fun fun fun. =): been thinking about starting the shit again now that i can actually be in the same room with anything beyond a .22.

Same here. Ever since i saw that civvie semiauto Bushmaster M4 carbine. Problem is id have to sign up with a club for a rifle permit and then shoot borrowed guns for a year until they let me buy it. *ugh*

Then again... M4... *drools*

Faust ... yeah, .22s are the approapriate thing for people your age ...

Though I like to shoot them. For target pratice you don't need anything else - but for the big boom - which I'm in search for, the .454 Casull is pretty far up there.

I got another gun coming - a fiveshooter in 45-70 Gov't. Imagine cratridges the size of crayons - baaaad mofo - can't wait til it's here!

Loki,

You apologize too much for owning a gun. You bought it. You use it. Presumably you're responsible and will take the necessary precautions to keep it and yourself safe. I don't see the need for all the justifications and caveats in your post. I think something's wrong with society when a man has to apologize for his nature if he's acting within his rights and responsibly.

I'm in balastic's camp on this one. I grew up in Alaska where a chance encounter with an animal could leave you dead. My father owes his life to a .357 when a bear decided he looked like a tasty burrito sleeping in his tent.

No, visionsary. What you do is you 'ride' the recoil. You don't lock your arms in - you just let the gun move upwards. Every once in a while it makes go back one step though

Loki knows how to impress the ladies. If he doesnt get a chance to show her his pistol, she'll definitely know she's in for a good time when she sees his velvet, leopard-print bed pillows!

Nice gun, loki.

PandaX52: Couldn't agree more, man.

You guys are saying how in certain areas a bear or mountain lion could get you. That's true, but you should consider that humans are the most dangerous and malicious of any creature on this earth.

My school actually has a shooting range..

we have it as a school sport..

.22 and 303's
its complusary to shoot at least 4 times a year..

I dont know, I find shooting gets a little tedious after a while.. especially if your only shooting 22s..
