Of the first post I really like the 2nd one.. if feels more ingaging... lots of focal points.. good mood to it.. the first one I couldnt get into.. I liked the idea of the arches.. but I think maybe the perspective was off or something.. Anyhow you said you werent gonna work on em anymore.... as far as the next two.. I like.. its fine art of modern art.. done on a computer.. weird!!! messes with your mind!
I like! Were you having fun with the selection tool.. and just got the idea.. or did you happen to look at something and get inspired? Anyhow its nice to see something different now and then....
Thanks for posting your stuff.. its always a delight to see your work. |

DeathJester,
I'm with you, I just can't get into the first one either, so I guess it is done. I might revisit the second sometime.
As for the second two. Yes, I was having fun with the lasso tool. I have been working on a book with some friends of mine for about 9 months now and one of the team members, James Clyne, brought in a very cool piece he had done all will the lasso tool. That was part of the inspiration for these. Another team member, Nick Pugh, has been doing some great architectural pieces, which was also part of the inspiration. I have some others that I think will make it into the finished book, these are the quick studies that are not going to go in the book so I thought I would share them here. The book is going to be full of very, very different stuff. Thanks for the comments, glad you are enjoying the work.

Here are few more unfinished ones. I may spend time on these two again someday when I'm feeling ambitious.

The bluriness of them still bothers me a bit, but these are still some -great- pictures.
Do you start all of them with the same sort of detailed pen drawings you've shown here, or are some of them freehanded in the paint program?

Sumaleth, just the last two started as line sketches. The first four are just started in the computer, first two in PS second two in Painter. |

If you dont mind me asking; what sort of references do you have at hand? Any reference for water/rock/etc? Or just good old intuition? |

I really like where you are going with your current pieces. Quite refreshing, and a good departure from your usual stuff. |

I left a comment in this thread earlier, but it seems to have disappeared...
At anyrate... I like those two that aren't going any where. Don't think they need to go anywhere else... They look great just as they are... very fresh an brilliant. |

Sumaleth, I had reference on the second one, it has a photo of this valley with a monastery on the right. Kept the valley, did not use the monastery and the rest of the structures on the left are just made up. All of the other pieces are just from my head. |
