I've been lurking on the site for a long time, and have finally decided to post something. I am attempting to paint something similar to old renessance style, I know I'm not even close, and at this point I'm just playing around with placement, colors, etc. Any comments, or paint overs would be greatly appreciated.

You have a nice start here, different classical poses, but I don't really get what is happening in this picture?

And on another note I think you should avoid smudged edges, they make life much harder when you start adding details to picture. That is what everyone is telling me when I'm drawing

Thanks for the comment. I guess I'm not sure what's happening yet either. I was thinking that the guy in the front had just fallen down, and the guy to the right was pulling a cart or something with the rope. And the roman soldier is watching over them, I was going to add less detailed figures working in the background and such. I'm starting to think I should have planned out the whole drawing first. It started as just sketching some different figure poses.
