Hi all
I'm in very big trouble : I can't manage to draw a perfectly constructed Head !
I tried some tutorials (Fun With a Pencil or other Books from Burne Hogarht and all....) but they never tell me where to place the EYES ...Indeed , eyes are for me very difficult to draw in a good perspective , even if i manage to place the first one (the closest), i never know how to draw the second one....
So i'm wondering if someone can help me, because it really matters for me
thank you in advance )
PS : I'm french, so if my english is not very good , i apologize... |

well, i'm no master myself, but generally speaking, eyes are halfway down the head. i did find this tutorial for you:
http://www.portrait-artist.org/face/structure.html
it teaches about facial proportions and stuff. hope this helps! |

Hey I just drew up some quick notes of how I construct my eyes, hope it helps. Btw, I screwed up, your supposed to use the bottom part of the beginning unit to measure out your proportions. The top part marks the outer extremities of the nose while the bottom marks the inner. I have my own little way of constructng the head which I think I'll post some notes on, lemme know if your intrested.

I'm trying to be funny here so don't take this the wrong way but have you used a mirror. Just sitting there and studying the construction of the face can help a great deal even looking through magazines/newspapers and just copying what you see can also help. I remember when I was at school my art teacher telling me to just study what you see and over time you'll eventually be able to draw a face without thinking about it. |
