Greetings..this is the first time I have posted my artwork. This sketch is a couple years old and I decided to breathe new life into it. It needs alot of TLC to reach it's full and powerful robot potential. I figured I would post my progress in stages for the best chance at criticism and the chance to help some with my techniques.
This first pic is the original sketch circa 1998:

next I cleaned up the sketch dropped the color and inverted his broked left forearm :

At this stage I am adding color and beefing up the robot's scrawny vacuum cleaner and coathanger body (you can see this in the arm so far):

His future involves beefing up the leg and neck, adding texture bounced light and details. And maybe a background and cast shadow.
Let me know what you think so far,
cheers

It's a nice design and looks like it'll color up well, but you'd be getting much nicer results if you colored a little more sharper. The coloring is very murky and blured at the moment so you need to zoom in closer and get some cleaness to it IMO.

he is using black and white with one shade of green... that over laps it...

it is a way to make stuff in real painting first you do the B&W version than slowly put a small layer of paint thin traslucent paint shows the black and white at the end you have to just re highlight the darks and lights a bit than it is done... still nto sure if it is effective in computer painting I am thinking it will endup very mono crom (might be using the wrong word).

I like the robot design hope the color ends up well

Thanks everyone for the advice. I managed to get another hour free to work on this piece and here is the result. The plates on the back still need work in fact i would say this robot is about 60% done. In this update ive worked on some details and overall bulk, trying to portray a feeling of strength, and starting the more realistic rendering of different parts. I hope to find more time to work on him again soon.

I seem to remember seeing this one. I really liked it, it looks so alive. A great dynamic postion it is in, kudos. It reminds me of the robot/scout from Red Planet, another robot that I liked. Keep up the work I will for sure to save the final in the Keepers Floder.
