Hey Luna, I like it, but as Suma said theres something not cool goin on with da composition. It feels too separated. Maybe you get that straight when painting it, Ive no clue how you could improve it though. Im a sucka when it comes to composition myself
hint, hint - look at my post in the finished gallery ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

What strikes me as potentially "wrong" is that you're cutting the figures so close to the knees. It gives a bit of an "amputee" look - they lose the motion...
So I'd try just cropping the image at the bottom, and maybe at the top too (the trident and wing-tip horns are perhaps too close to the top edge, might be better cutting them a bit). But I'm not exactly an expert in figure compositions, so take this advice for what it's worth

I like the idea a lot. I agree with safron in that having the figures cut off at the knees like that is very distracting.
My suggestion would be to zoom way out on the image, and make it somewhat of a panoramic composition similar to what Sedone did in the gas mask thread. I think that would have a lot of impact. You could have some real fun with the values of the floating islands in the background and stuff.
I dunno.. just an idea. :/ |

First comment is that it feels a bit flat. You've got the two characters on the same layer and the background aligned.
Second comment is that it feels like two pictures side by side. The big separation and similar poses dont make it feel like a single composition.

Hi,
Very cool idea, I made something similar/ish to this a few years ago. Ok well your artwork is good, yet I will have to agree that it really does need to be more dynamic. There's no emotion we can relate to. She's looking at the viewer as is the demon, both very nonchalantly. Two options that I can see. change the persepective so that we are looking slighty up and along the walkway, this will make it look a lot more interesting. Then you could make it so that the Angel is struggling and kicking as she is being roughly dragged down this dark hall towards who knows what, feathers falling off etc, instead of, " Oh hi, thanks for popping in, I'm just taking my pet angel for a walk "
Have some real evil in there. Then there's the defeatist option, where the angel has loads of bald patches on her wings, and is beaten and bloodied, defeated, the demon could then be dragging her along the floor leaving a trail of blood and feathers as he goes, that would give it a real emotional twang to it. I personally hate seeing women get killed in films, just doesn't seem right, the slower they get killed the worse I feel, weird huh? Hope this gives you a hand!! Can't wait to see the final image!! |

Hey, thanks for all the crits!
Looks like I've got a lot of stuff to change!
I'll work more balance into the composition and the character's emotions. |
