thats a really nice piece there, im sure if you saty at it itll get much better, dont worry about the debries, judging from what i see now you should be fine with mastering those. the lighting is really good, i like it very much.

ps. can you pull off any tricks on the skateboard

Hey, just doing a little practise painting in Photoshop from a photo.

Referance Pic

The debris to both sides of the path is giving me a fair bit of trouble. Also, the pavement of the path doesn't look too hot. Any critiques/suggestions would help tremendously.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks... it's been pretty tedious, and it doesn't seem like it's going to become any easier.

I only started skateboarding last summer... pretty much all I can do is ollie, but I'm not too interested in learning other tricks.

How many decks can ya ollie?

I used to be able to ollie six interlock when I skated. I could 360 flip over a 3-set.

... man that was a long time ago. I miss my childhood.

Nice piece btw. I think the features (eyes/mouth/etc.) are too small on your painted version as compared to the reference. Other than that, it is coming along quite nicely!

Last summer, (don't laugh) I managed to ollie a deck on its side (like, wheels perpendicular to the ground). As I mentioned, I'm not that good.

I see what you mentioned about the facial features being small... I guess I'm subconsciously stylizing. I'll fix it up.

When you overlay the ref and the painting, they match almost perfect, except the head. So, you may want to resize the head a tad. I love what you've done with the hand though. You could use custom brushes with the leaves and branches on the ground, or get creative and put some other object back there. (Maybe a crashed UFO) lol

I'm still working on it. BloodStone's post inspired me to take some liberties with the board. I like how it's going now.

The bottom part of the chin should probably blend in a little more instead of being so sharply highlighted. I'd try and match that as much as possible with the reference.

I guess I'm done. There's a whole lot more detail to be had in the background, but I give up
