Well it's been quite sometime since I've done some digital painting. With the abnormal amount of sketching I'm doing these days I figured no time like the present.

All crits welcomed. Specifically I'm concerned about the skin. It's not lookin right to me and I'm unsure what direction to take. Skin has always aluded me when it came to lighting. Prolly cause I haven't done much life drawing Anyways, thanks fer the help guys and gals.

I like it so far!
Maybe there are some issues with the light source and the highlights, but...hmmm...keep going!

Thanks guys, I did redo the skin with the shadows more in mind and I like it better this time. Although it is a little less feminine I find it adds to the oddity that she is. I also threw in a quick background to help me visualize the setting/lighting while I paint.

Any comments are more than welcome and thanks fer the help.

I like the lighting even more.

But those delts and pec/delt tie ins are very strange. The musculature is inaccurate. I would not worry about it if its an effect you wish to achieve though. Find a chest shot of a female or even male for reference.

Given the orientation of the arm, I'd say the same things about the lower arm. You're drawing the inner arm as though the palm of the hand was facing the viewer, rather than away.

The arm pit area isn't shaded up yet?

And I have one suggestion/reaction. Keep the current face and don't add in the one from the paper sketch. I like the current one more.

It looks pretty good to me. If anything the highlights seem to be coming from a different direction on the shoulder. All I can offer is to think of where the light is and cast shadows mentally. Pretend its clothing rather than skin to work the shading if that helps.

The one thing that jumps out at me is her face. I like the drawing but her eyes seem too low on her head. There just isnt something right about it.

the muscle details on her arm are a little wiggy. her tricept looks like its trying to compete for the same space on the arm as the bicept.

I love the mood though. She definately has this I am a mean bitch thing about her. I know i woulndt want to go on a date with her :P

Thanks for the comments guys, especially about the anatomy, I spent about 2 hours today going through Gray's Anatomy. I didn't get around to fixing the ole eyes yet cause I'm unsure wheat I'm going to do with them.

Well it's another update. I worked mostly on the bg. I really like the way Brom does backgrounds for his solo chars so I thought I'd try something similar. The background consists of two textures with tons of adjustment layers with varying blending modes. PS7 has some new ones taht are pretty cool.

I did rework her anatomy, although I'm still not quite happy with it, I feel that the anatomy is pretty much there. (I hope so, I used one of Gray's illustrations

I also put some color to the light that is casting on her, my previous lighting was very desaturated.

Arkenoid: Hey man I really liked your Mecha design. Very cool as usual, I'd like to see more of the concepts for the different classes for the Mechs, very cool idea.

For some reason I like the eyes. It reminds me of Moebius. As far as the anatomy goes it is improved. Separation of the delts from the pecs are important. The deltoid highlight should be one instead of two 'strips' of muscle. The overall shape is fine.

The pecs are basically a triangular fan that inserts under the anterior delt and under the collar bone. The bone should be distinct.

The lower arm. You need another band of muscle under the one band of 'brachialis' [the spelling is wrong on that; its been a while since I bothered with an anatomy book] that you've put in.

Lookin cool.

Did the hand and feet, the hardest parts usually but this time I did the hand in about 15 min and I was pleased with it. A rarety indeed. The foot however was a nightmare as usual. I finally got them to a exceptable state so I'm never going to touch them again

Eric: I don't realy havem but I will post the sequential layers up later.

The next step is to work on the dress, I really have no idea what to do with it (highlight wise) but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Again, thanks guys for all the crits, I'll see what I can do with the shoulder.

Very nice shading and rendering. I like it, but is there a story behind it? She looks very muscular. Good work - keep it up.
