Star Wars TPM was OK, not great, but OK. Story was a little weak, the special effects were cool, but kind of overdone in parts.

I won't touch the jar jar thing at all.

But, WTF is up with Darth Maul. He / it was in the movie for three minutes (or so). He did an OK fight seen, has a cool space ship and dies.

SO, why is he such the big thing. I saw a COOL image / poster in finished work (nothing bad to say about the picture). But why is Darth Maul such the big thing. Is it cause' he looked different, had horns, or what.

Now I could understand if the character came back, but he dies.

I dunno...

Barf Maul should have stayed around and killed the hell out of everyone... that would have made me smile --- and then, perhaps just THEN, would I be a Star Wars "fan"...

ps - Oh, and beleive it or not, those of you who are wondering how to make a character look evil and cool, take note of Giant's list. =)

I may not know what his secret to cool-ish-ness is, but I do know one thing for sure, his firm, athletic ass really stands out when printed on birthday party napkins for the kiddies!

Darth maul fights againts two jedis at the same time and kills one. And almost kills another one.

btw, have you ever wondered what would happen if you just drop one of the lightsabers? like "oops, sorry" and then it starts to melt the ground, etc.

and last but not least...if you have one guy thats cool, copy/paste them 100 times and they are 100 times as cool as they swarm over the victim.

Damn Lucas narrowed his scope. That's what happened. Instead of focusing on unit cohesion, like he did with the first three, he made TPM a movie on it's own. That's why there's so little foreshadowing about Anikan being Darth Vader later on. That's why Jar Jar Binks had such a big role. That's why Darth Maul was killed. Personally, I would have rather have Darth Maul live on for the next few movies. But I guess there's certain plot restraints that wouldn't allow for it (Anikan becoming a sith, etc.).

*shrug*

The next one will be better.

Some guy who is expert at martial art played the role of Darth Maul. So since he wasn't a real actor I guess that's why it was okay to cover him up with all these make ups, which is cool, and horns was not a bad thing. If he was a real actor maybe Darth Maul could have had more dialog ("At last, we will have our revenge" or somethihng like that was all he said through out the entire movie) Hey, it's too bad Obi Wan killed him in such ridiculous way. I mean, Darth Maul is so fast but he just stood there watching Obi Wan jump up, roll in the air, land in front of him so he could slice him in half. That took about three seconds. What happened Darth? Okay..he's not talking. I bet I will just stab Obi Wan while he was jumping up if I was like Darth Maul. Shame....

I often ask myself that same redundant question everytime I see some snot nosed moron utters the words, "Darth Maul is the shit!"

I fail to see how he appeals to people in such a way...but then again "pop" is the reigning "trend" in music..

I'm not really a Star Wars E1 fan either, that movie sucked imo.

I think it was just the fact that they killed the stiffness of the villian...which made Darth Maul cool, you know? Vader was like a mannequin or something...anyhow I liked the fight scene more than the character...same guy that did Toad in X-Men right? Uh....what? You said something right?
