Last time, I submitted a work in progress here that was in color already. I realized then with comments that I would have gain a lot of knowledge and avoided some mistakes if I've had presented the sketch here first.

So, now, I've chosen to show you the basic sketch of a future colorization.

The wing will be made of energy.

Her face is covered by a transparent protection

I'm thinking about a urban background with armed people, seen from above, like the little guy on the left. or perhaps as the guy below and her are looking above, I could cast the shadow of a terrible thing on theground

I'm not sure about the colors yet. But she will probably be red-haired. I love red women

Her right arm seems to be a little short, and her left leg seems a little long. Other than that, it looks great.

That ink job you started looks really fine. How big is the picture and what pen did you use?

What is strange about the arm length is that it looked right at first and then appeared too short when I add the shoulder pads... Hmmm, I'll have to digitally stretch it

I agree too about the leg, but it should be the right length. In detail disappeared : the left buttock should be seen ( right under the base of the wing ).

I took the time to correct that 2 points :

The image is done on a A4 page. I use simple Rotring felt pens for inking but generally the scanning process screws the whole inking because the paper is a sketchin paper (and then the inking appears all bumpy).

In that case the inking was a test. I don't think I'll ink the whole drawing. I'll start colorization directly

Really cool!
Why don't you ink it?
I'd love to see her inked!

In fact when I said I'm not a good inker, it is mainly because my lines are jaggy (not visible here as it is reduced in size ) and moreover I do not now how to handle the shadows in a good way.

For me the inking is finished, but I'm sure a good inker could add more details...

Anyway thanks for your nice comment

Ben, I agree with razzak, your inking is excellent. The lines are clean and I really like the way you did the hair...

What are you planning on doing for the background? Any inking there?

BTW, razzak, the cloak of the guy you recently drew looks really good. (The folds and all)

Fact is that if I erase all the pencil work, scan it and try to obtain smooth black lines (for photoshop or painter work at 300 dpi) the result is really awful, I swear!

But perhaps I'm too perfectionist... I'm really pleased that you like this inking though guys!

about the background? I'm in need of ideas in fact. If you looked at my previous drawings, I rarely do backgrounds because I never know what to do!

so your proposition on backgrounds and color themes are really welcome

You should try two ways :
1) Scan your stuff (resolution 300) with Adobe Streamline to vectorize your inking. Usually it works good. Then export the pic in Illustator and then to Photoshop.
It works, example :

2) Scan in 600 with Photoshop. Use the magic wand to select the pencil lines and erase those. Resize to 300 dpi

Wow!! merci pour l'astuce Fabrys!

Thanks for the tip man! I'll try that... Just have to check if we have Streamline at work!

I'll try both of your tips!

I've given a try at Streamline and effectively, this should work fine. I must refine my parameters but I think I can obtain a good line rendering!

thanks again
