worked maybe an hour on this one, used an old sketch as a start. so far i like it, tho i think i'll f*k it up later

dunno about composition and values... the colors are intentionally overstated. kinda sick of the pastel look i got lately.

questions, comments, crits, anything

should finish this one by april 1st... long time since i did a proper piece

-----------------------------------------

update:

some parts are ten time worse now, will fix it very soon.

i'd LOVE to se the finished result!

i find it quite hard to give any crits at an early stage like this.

Heya T, haven't seen you around lately...
Good going...looks like a promising picture.
I wonder what that machine is going to look like when you're done with it. It looks heavy though, make sure it's strapped on properly

The ear looks good and he's got an interesting hair (?) style. The background colors seem a bit over-saturated...maybe you should take it down a little or if you want to keep it that way, darken the main elements maybe?

Does anyone know if there are any good rules of thumb for making backgrounds?

wha? rules??? naaaaaaaah

MrT. That's a cool concept man, I like it. I'm not sure if it's just me... but is his neck too long? maybe it's just that turtle neck thing he's wearing that makes it look that way

I think, the eye needs a new location.

The left hand design is the stronger of the two. The straps look more suited to the rocket/machine/thing on his back.

I agree, the left one is better.
Hmmm, it's strange.
When I fist looked at it I didn't like it at all..., now I love it!
Good work!

Do me one favour though..., add the tattoo from your first version to your current one!
Looked really cool on him!

ya, working on the tattoo separately. removed it here to work on the hand shading (it's in another layer actually)

off to do the straps

Maybe a 4 point belt joined in an X on the middle?

It's seems to be going the right direction, are you going to make some sort of background? I'd suggest something urban, at(or after) the fall of modern civilization

I've been waiting to see you at
work Mr.T.

Very Nice.

francmidi had a good comment on
the eye position.

I can't wait, will you please post some
pictures to show us lower type painters
how you build. I know there are tutorials
but its always nice to see the process.
