How do you guys think this is so far?
It's my first time I color something I drew so I'm really unexperienced when it comes to that... .

I think you are looking for some kinda crit.
Well, the first thing you need to do is choose a defenate light source, direction and type.
Second, using that information redraw the sketch using different line weights. Once your done that come back and we will go from there. I know that this does not directly have too much to do with your colouring, the fundamentals will help you determin what you have to do after that.

It's getting better. I think it may look good without the black outlines. |

Humor me here, I wanna help. I could do an 'overpaint,' but I think that will only do it for you or show you what it would look like if I did it vs. what it could look like if you did it. Then take about 20 min and redraw the image.

It sure wouldn't be a big deal to redraw him. (a 5th time)
Well I would like to see an overpaint... .
If you'd like to show me I would apreciate it!
My problem is that I tried all different kinds of coloring.
Different shade layers, do it all on one layer, use the airbrush, use the paintbrush.
I followed tutorials...
It just doesn't really come out right...
Gettin a lil bit frustrated here
An overpaint would be sweet!
I could just try to redo your overpaint and learn how to do it... .
For me learning by copying worked pretty good in the past...
Well I'm now able to come up with own characters, but when it comes to coloring... well, I stink
Thanks for your help... |

Yeah, I know... .
This was actually just a lil scipple sketch I did to show a friend something.
I redid it like 3 or 4 times, but I never cared for the anatomy...
Oh shoot, his torso is sooo to long, haha.
This is the first time I realise that.
Maybe I'll get rid of that freakin metal thing...hmmm, well it's an important part of the character though...
I'll see.
Well When it comes to that I can do better, but that's not my problem here... .
The coloring is driving me nuts...
for the anatomy
Yes, his legs are way to short...

Alright then,
Here is a quick over paint to show you some of the proper anatomy to get started.
The next thing I want to show you how doing some redrawing and research can make a difference. I thought first lets make the image more dynamic. plugged in skateboarding images into search engine and got.
Then I proceeded to sketch it 1 2 3 times to get feeling, perspective and anatomy. Now however not competely finished I think I make a point
And here is the finishing sketch to be cleaned up using line weight then trasphered to computer to do the colouring.

Its a good drawing so far. I think it's the concept that bothers me. Kind of like a humanoid teletubby, you know? ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

I think this is a good start ! However there are anatomy problems and to many unnecessary
lines . You should define the muscles with paint not lines . My suggestion would be to use refferance pics until you get the basics down ,not that your that far off though . His torso is too long ,hands are to big , his right foot has no toes and he has no collar bones . ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Hahaha, every time I read that teletubbie comment I start smiling like some retarded idiot...
Yeah, I'll just get rid of the metal part, so his torso ain't too long anymore... .
Sounds like a plan...
Sorry, had to... ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
