Hello everybody,

I am new to digital painting and the wacom tablet (graphire2 = small).
Although I draw occasionaly I never
broke into oil painting which I absolutely love. However I have done a few charcoal and pastels.

In this image (my first real digital painting) I used "Socar Myles" tutorial
on advanced painting. You can find it at her website.

The tutorial was very insightful.

Anyway I'll not take up another pixel on your screen I've said to much already.

if you screw up your initial post, you can go back to that same post and click on the "edit post" icon. Then you won't have to post 8 more times.
Your image is very cool!

thanks pookums. It looks like they
took down the broken posts.

I'm glad you like the painting. I added some hard edged brush strokes to the
water. Thanks to some suggestions.

I just updated the driver for my wacom (graphire2 4x5) and I can now use the stylus feature, it's awesome.

Dr. Bang,

Are you pulling my leg?

The higlights in the water are just a
bunch of scribbles (see detail).

I'm glad you like it. It's easier doing
paintings that don't rely on accurate
proportions. I'm trying to do a portrate
but after filling in the drawing I seem to
lose my original shapes.

Thanks for the response.

I think you did good work with the water and the rock really looks wet.
On the other side the motif is not very exciting as well as the lighting.
But you wrote it is only an exercise... The biggest problem for me is, that
I don't know what the structures above the stone represent. Is there a
horizon? I hope you understand, what I'm talking about (My english isn't
good and I permanently have to look up the words, not knowing if I use
them right. Maybe I should better use babelfish .).

I think I know what you mean about the
horizon. The water meets the sky rather
abruptly. If I finish the painting I think I'll
have this be the edge of a waterfall.
Than the water and sky relationship would make sense.

Thank you so much for your time

hi, your thought of the edge of a waterfall inspired me to an overpaint.
I saw an awsome picture in this forum with an ancient city in the jungle,
but I don't know who did this painting. Maybe spooge demon ?! So I had to
try it on my own. I hope you don't mind.
Here it is (Attention! It's a huge download, approx. 100 kB hope the link works).
OVERPAINT

greetings, francmidi

Wow, Finally someone offering
something real.
That is amazing, I really am
amazed at how you really opened
up this painting. Now it's something
truly interesting very cool. Did I say
I love it.

Hey, I'm very flattered by your reaction, because it's my first try of an
overpaint. This encourages me to carry on.
Maybe you can build up on my suggestion .
