i don't think his pecs are quite right. his abdomen is a little long i think, and he has girl hips and legs. i think at least one of the shoulders might be a bit small also. but i still have crappy anatomy knowlege too, so hopefully someone good at this helps you out. |

The legs are what strike the sense the most... like snowman said, they are fairly feminine for an obviously masculine character. Add a bit more muscle def to them and tweak the raised one so it points out at a bit more of an angle.
I'm sure someone around somewhere has a few good links for anatomy for you. |

Dont know much about anatomy either but 2 things:
- The wings are not symmetrical.
- (maybe that is not your concern right now, but I mention it anyway) the ear of the monster is too much in front. |

I would suggest getting a photo reference. Perhaps get a friend to take a pic of you jumping off of something so you can better get an idea of how the legs and shoulders would be. If you can't get a pic I would look thorugh some comic books to find a pose similar to yours that you can use as reference.
Good luck and keep us updated. |

feet too small and gooey, make bigger and add structure.
The legs are too close together for the angle they are at, tha back leg should be moved to the left a little more.
calves are too long, ankles should come about to the back of the butt when the knee is fully bent.
Look at some comics, and build the form, check out this site, it's my fav

Here's a man's structure. Of course, it's exaggerated but it gives you an idea of how developed the lower half of the body should be. My image isn't perfect but while redrawing yours, I realized that your action line needed some changing. The upper and lower section in your figure were at odds.
Also, look at other works regarding composition. Placement is very important as well as neg/positive space within the figure itself.
-good luck |

Hey, thanks for the replies guys! Gotta be a new personal record. Helpful too!
I took what you guys said and tried to apply it but i keep getting shit. So i decided to first draw the figure from the side since my biggest problem is drawing at a 3/4 view. Somethin about it always messes me up. Please take a look at this and tell me if its more correct. Again a brief sketch but i was wondering a couple of things, how should the muscles of the back appear and are the rib muscles in the right position? Please tell me anything you guys see. Thanks again.
Edible Snowman: Thanks for the advice, yeah he has girly legs but i didnt put much time into them. Just initial sketch.
Jayle: Legs caught me wrong too. Thanks for reply.
Antx: Didnt really care about wings but you were right about the ear.
Hippie: Good idea but it would more than likely result in a trip to the hospital for me with this pose.
Rubbersharkman: Im still listening to that song Great site man. I guess you guys really swear by that Loomis Project huh? I already have it but havent read it yet. Have it half way printed. Hehehe ran out of ink printing the thing. Thanks for the advice.
Bluetraveller: Thanks for the visual, check my new pic got yer action line n everything ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I dont know if this is helpful, It's just
my suggestions. Try drawing the legs
and arms a cylindars in perspective.
Consult an anatomy book or how to
draw the human form for proportions.
I'm going to need to remove the paint
over from my very limited web space
so you should download the paint
over if it helps.
I think im going to by the series of
perspective tapes at http://www.draw123.com
I'm begining to realize that every element
on the human form or monsters or
anything other than random shapes
rely so strongly on perspective.
Perspective and proportion.
I love the Burne Hogarth books
and that link that someone gave
you was awesome. The one on
loomis looks great too. |

Looks quite similar to what i created originally. But every little thing counts right? Before you go off buying the draw 123 series i strongly suggest you DL the Loomis project. I am yet to have read the thing but what i have is primo. |

the drawing was done on top of your
original, I just toned down the original
lines, but yes I didnt do much only what
I could. I also have the loomis book and
have started printing out chapters. Looks
good. However for perspective that
video series is pretty indepth on drawing
in space. The loomis focus pretty much
on the human figure. I think I really need
to focus on how to draw in space.
Where is your updated version? |
