Ok here's the deal:
#1) Use any programs/techniques of your choice to color/overpaint the pencil drawing above. >I'm providing a 800x1448 pixel version of the original scan at
http://www.bnro.de/~fse/wildthing.zip for you to work on<. It's a ~ 0.7 MB PSD file (Photoshop format).
#2) Post your efforts right here. Please only add "thumbnail" pictures which do not exceed a size of 387x700 (that's the size of the picture above) and add links to the "big" versions with more details. This way the loading times will be reduced significantly and non-T3-I-Net-User will have a chance to get an overview of what's been posted without having to wait about half an hour.
The definition of "big" is up to you, btw.
#3) Feel free to add backgrounds or whatever floats your boat.
#4) Color scheme and lighting are up to you.
#5) The results will be re-posted in the "Gallery/Finished Work" forum. You may use your colored versions / paintings for your personal portfolios or other personal enjoyments of any kind without the urge of giving me credit in any way.
Just to clarify that, I'm doing this just for the dang fun of it. I don't call this a contest 'coz everybody participating is a winner per definition. Be cool and get movin', folks!

P.S.: bigger versions of that PSD file are available, just ask for it if needed

I think you did a pretty good job...
Did you set the picture-layer to multiply?
If not [it's hard to tell, but the hands look like you didn't] you should do that, because then the original black lines won't be overpainted by your coloring... |
