Ive been trying to learn how to draw from real life examples. The following was done in 2 hours using a mouse and Open Canvas.
I doubt I wil rework it since I didn't save it in OpenCanvas format.
But heres what I can tell is wrong.
The 5 oclock shadow is hardly noticable. The neck is too blah and the shade underneath the brow doesn't match the chin and neck.
The nose is too long compared to the original.
The shade under nose is rather light.
He looks like hes wearing lip gloss. They would look better on a woman.
If you feel there is anything else to add, or any coloring techniques i could benefit from feel free to tell me. |

the style resembles caricature, but the shading achieves the quality of realism of oil paints. Nice work.
His right eye could be defined more, and the shading could be darker as the cheek approaches the ear. |

Hi
You're right about the lips, but I think you missed that they look like a woman's being prepared for kissing. Especially the upper lip is bent too much outwards, I think. The mouth is also a bit too small and feminine in general. You should also consider lifting the eyelids a bit more (what would be a millimeter in real life) because he looks rather stoned.
Otherwise it's a good picture. You've done well in getting the anatomy right, I think. |

I'll definately keep your comments in mind on my next work. |
