HI!
I'm doing a cave man. I just re-worked the right arm a bit and am wondering how it looks. A friend said it looked a bit short and gave me a few suggestions.. how is it now, still short? (he's holding the underarm into the picture..)
(yep! I know, no color.. it's comming)
Thx for any replies!

Hi
I like it, but there are a few flaws, I reckon:
- The right hand is too large
- The right right under arm seems short, but it may be caused because of the big hand
- He is too slim and/or there is something wrong with the perspective around his belly
- His right leg is too long, and the lower part of the leg seems to be twisted from his right thigh
I also think you should consider making his biceps bigger, as they remind me of my own.
Keep us posted. |

i know it's a lot of rework, but the position he's holding the ax in seems very uncomfortable. Especially when it's a large stone, might be better tilted foreward. Gravity tends to have a kind of downward effect on heavy obkects, and it would put an awful strain on the heel of his hand that way. Just a suggestion, what came to mind first was "ouch, that looks like it would hurt" |

thx for replies
I did a quick redraw, removed the axe and fixed the hand. i may put axe in later again.. the upper leg is a bit shorter now, but still needs a bit more work..

Herr.O, I am very intersted in this image. I feel that there is alot of action, dynamic if you will. I do wonder if you have being reading 'How to draw dynamic figures'(I think that is the title). It remindes me of the images from the book. That is not really a bad thing. As I said that I thing it has alot of dynamics to it, I don't believe that all the parts are talking to each other. As in the fluidity of the figure is not represented. Try going back and play with yourself...er... with positioning yourself like the figure and see if you can bring together the figure.
Hope that helps.

Nope haven't read it, but I think I've seen it at the library
I made the right leg/foot smaller and fixed the arm (again).. better?
I don't have much time drawing so progress is pretty slow ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

Getting better but the anatomical structure has been fabricated. There are entire muscle structures that you've drawn in that don't exist... I'd get a decent book of anatomy... Two actually. One written for the illustrator and the second, a scientific digest like Grey's.
Check out the muscles between the shoulder blades (normally make a double triangle shape) are riddled with tumors... and the arm sticks out of socket... Triceps are combined in one mass and the Bicep has lumps as well...
Not to rag... the image is getting better, but anatomy is the best place to go from here. |

My bungled attempt, maybe it can help. Keep up the good work.

Thx alot, that's a push in the right direction! Im gonna redo the whole thing now.. some more anatomy studies and I'm ready to go! I've never been good at drawing figures. This is one of my first serious attempts. It's been mostly landscapes and trees until now ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
