Cool,
It's got the right feel, but lacks some technical things. Things to concider... be sure to have complete control over your edges, shadows and form. and the perspective needs to be spot on to pull off the illusion.
Other than thoes two minor yet major things,
I think this is a strong start and won't take much to take it to the next level.
Keep up the good work.

My ctits the same as before, it needs more consistent lighting, it still looks a little like a videogame, lit from all over. The sun light seems to be very varied all over. For the perspective, I would suggest just building a simple cylinder with a spiral around it and position it in the scene to check the persp. Keep it up!

Nice to see someone else who is interested in matte painting! Have you checked out this thread, there's some great tips there!

I did an overpaint for ya, dunno if it's helpful, but at least it was fun to do :

Edit: btw. It's good to use image ratio of epic films: 2.35:1 or similar, gives a nice touch..

Haha, I am your "friend"
Since you are not online on icq right now, I might as well say what I have to say here:
Bg's overpaint is real nice. The more defined lighting makes it interesting to look at, and the altered aspect ratio makes the composition look tighter and hides some of the perspective issues. But his overpaint looks more like a hazy summer evening, and yours looks like a cold and foggy autumn day (even though the leaves are green it still makes me think of autumn, don't know why), who wouldn't prefer a summer evening over cold and foggy autumn? So Bg might be disqualified for taking an easy route by changing to a nicer whether =) even though it is still a nice image.

KoryH, Thank you! I'm struggeling with the dahmn perspective, and the edges that should be sharp are really hard to keep sharp hehe.

Anthony: thank you! I was trying that thing with
consistent lighting, but it looks even more lika painting and not a Matte. About the perspective; I really would use a 3d program to get the right perspective, but the thing is that I don't have any 3d program yet hehehe...

BG; thanx, I really wasn't thinking of the image ratio hehehe, too bad that my favourite part of the painting won't make it in the pic (the top part of the treetrunk)
The light is really nice but as Zaar said I would prefer to keep it the foggy cool autumn feel, but very nice indeed, thank you!

Zaar, buddy, ma main maan! I agree with you about the cold autumn thingy, but he made a nice overpaint for sure!
