I'm not that great at drawing muscles, so I've been using Street Fighter characters as a refference. I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong somewhere and I need one of you fine folks to tell me what it is thanks

Well, the muscles don't form the structure of a creature, so try to work from a frame, a mannikin, and add the muscles later. And then you can make the calls on whether or not to leave the extra pecs in or out and so on.
And you can ask yourself questions about the function of the muscles. The second pair of shoulders is not necessary, I think.

I'm off to bed...

I'd leave out the second pair of pecs, looks a little funny, also agree with disgarding the bottom shoulders, a great reference would be Goro or Kintaro from the Mortal Kombat series

I'm in NO way for making fun of peoples posts here, but I have got to tell ya, that the headline of your thread made me smile from ear to ear!

We need more of these threads with a twist of irony to them!

My thoughts on your problem... well it takes some fantasy of mine to figure out excatly how a second pair of arms would be anatomically located, but one thing I am absolutely sure of , is that the lowest pair would be located BEHIND the upper one, almost strapped to the side of the (hmmm where did my memory of anatomical expressions go?) the huge shoulder muscle spanning across your upper back! And located alot higher on the body than you have drawn'm here! The arms are primarily forward minded lems and if the top ones were located behind the lower one it would be very difficult using them independently!

okay, first of all, this is the only picture I could find of Goro that I actually liked
http://www.twigpeople.com/dmo/goro.jpg
Now, how can you possibly have 4 arms without 4 shoulders? Yeah I guess I could have the bicepts protruding from the torso area but then it would be impossible for the character to relax his lower bicepts

Arkoh: *L*, you're a sick man buddy
seriously though I'd like to better understand your logic for why the bottom arms would neccisarily go behind the top set. Thanks for all your input folks, here's an update

Yeah... and especially at three o'clock in the night, sitting at work doing stuff I would rather "dream" about!!! No point in denying it!

right... I did this quick drawover, when my boss looked away , so take it for what it is...

Notice that I have as mentioned in an earlier post removed the extra shoulders, and the extra lower breast structure, moved the lower set of arms up, so they attach straight under the upper arms, and moved them further back, around the upper torso, a bit further to the back than the upper pair!

Hope it'll illustrate what it is I'm talkin about!

er.. yeah I understood what you were saying.. I just don't understand your logic for doing so . That's the part I want you to explain, why do you believe that the arms should be further back and why do you believe he should only have one set of shoulders? I kinda like having 2 sets. I didn't mean to make you risk getting in trouble at work, but thanks anyway

Listen man, I dont want to in any way, convince you to do anything you wouldn't wanna do!

I threw out my thoughts, because I thought they might give you the inspiration you needed... NOT because I think I know better (its a four armed creature for god sake... WHO would know better?? )!!!

What I'm saying is... it really comes down to simple geometri! Arms bends forward, right? Then if two arms should bend forward at the same time on the same side of the torso, then one pair would have to be located lower then the other and behind the top one, or the top one would have to be sitting on top of the other, either two possibilities.

Other then that... I suppose I have NO scientific facts to support my idea , so you should definately go with YOUR own believes, shoulders or no shoulders, behind or not!

I think the main thing you're doing wrong here is using Street Fighter art as reference material unless your goal is to have your drawings look like they belong in Street Fighter. But even if that is your goal, for this drawing I would suggest you find some pics of some beefy guys. You'll get *much* better results.
