I like the sketch better. The importance of differences in line weight isn't to be underestimated, And I think that's what makes it easy to read the drawing. The sketch is awesome, it's extremely powerful. You should try to keep it that way. |

dude -- I have to say, that's an awesome drawing. It looks like it would look better kept that way, BUT if you really want to add color, try not to make the lighter parts white. When light bounces off an object (let's say a plank of wood, for example) our eyes don't read it as white, neh? Just a lighter color of brown. I think that concept could be applied to your mech in a similar way (though I realize that it's metal, and is a lot more reflective than wood). meh. just my two cents. Again, that's an awesome drawing you have there |

One of the things that makes this look wrong is that the gradients are kind of flat; I'd try fleshing it out with the airbrush... Also, the background you picked dosen't complement your sketch at all. I'd also try picking out colors that weren't so stark. But that's just my opinion... |

I am only gonna say this one little thing...
I'll take my hat of for you man, for attempting to render this thing in Illustrator! Not my own choice of weapon for a project like that!
Fair play! |
