i just got 3dsmax and i really suck at it... i just want to be able to model characters for a C&C Renegade mod... know of any character/human/face 3dsmax 4.2 tutorials??

and if you are good at character modeling and you want to help, talk to me on icq (122164053)... i did make one structure for renegade
my first model

i know it sux dont laugh but its the very first thing i made, i bet you were this bad the first time you tried to model. this is a little turret thing that shoots a powerful machine gun. for more info on the game renegade, go to my site, XRA2X

hello,

well, i wouldnt recomend using tutorials, unless your looking for a quick fix and wanting to end up with a mediocre model.

i would suggest in purchasing 3d modeling books. i started with a book called

3ds max 4 ground rules by michael todd peterson

nice book, a good introduction to the basics, but a bit of a different learning style. really gets you up to speed on the basics of max.

the second book i bought:

inside 3ds max 4 by kim lee

fantastic book, but it really jumps into the thick of it. on the first modeling lesson, i got lost and decided to start the book over from the begining. ( i actually cheated and skipped a couple of chapters to start modeling, big mistake).

anyways, thats what i would suggest. tutorials only show you ONE way of making something, and usually are not concerned with the overall learning process. quick fixes, but they do have their usefullness.

good luck
