Or "Giving blood at the hospital"... being a nurse on the night shift might be a handy occupation for a vampire, at least until the bodies pile up and the questions start...
C&C welcome.

Very nice! Catchy idea/theme
I have always loved your work!
As razzak mentioned there seems to be something wrong with the little darlings face.
Could it be the eyes that are too far down and the lack of upper lip?
Also i believe that the corners of her mouth might be a bit to far forward?
And finally what is she lookin at?
But also, she looks rather evil the way she looks right now
It'll be fun to see how it turns out!
Cheers!

Now I know why I have an almost hysterical fear of doctors and hospitals. :P
I love the sense of energy and motion in this piece, gives it an otherworldly feel. I agree about the face, it needs something more, perhaps some spooky eyebrows or something. Also her hand which is gripping the bedsheet -- it seems like she would need to be gripping his shoulder or arm to keep him from reaching up and pushing her away.. but then again, maybe her supernatural vampire powers can keep him immobile without brute strength. :P Either way its a minor detail. |

Heh, talk about bad bed-side manners. Vampires look more creepy without eyebrows. Nice.

Hi Steven again..
this vampire piece is very well done. I like the motion blur and how it convey dynamic movement.. very hong kong comicky
and i do prefer it having no eyebrows.. it does make her more creepy hehe. If there were anything that could be approved upon.. i would try to give her teeth and mouth area more definition.. giver a more menacing snarl. Kinda give a the upper lip a bit more curl. The her brow area.. it would look better being notched up.. creasing her forhead area as well as the area between her eyes.. ermm how would i explain it better.. mebbe look in the mirror and do a really menacing snarl.. mebbe simulate a canine or feline snarl.. and capture that essence.
Just my 2 cents.. =P

Hella good.
The nurse reminds me of the cat people from Sleepwalkers.
I think it's an interresting discussion: What is horror?
Is an empty face scarier than a snarling face?
And do we make her attractive to blend emotions or do we render her more as an animal to simply make her more terrifying?
Interresting, perhaps a new thread-topic?!
I can't find what my opinion on the topic of horror is, so I can't really crit on the artwork....Yes I can. More either way.
Either make her more of an animal, or make her sexier.
Good job Steven!!

Thanks everybody!
I did an update, tried to fix some of the comments, and colored it a bit.
DarkStalker1 LOL!
Sukhoi, interesting. I couldn't make up my mind either... Maybe I'm influenced by the Buffy vampires, where they look normal one moment, then somewhat more like animals the next - but still not that much more...
laslauk, I imagined her to look like the gentlest, prettiest, cutest, youngest, most harmless and helpful nurse you've ever seen when in her normal mode, then she changes into this... not just fangs growing out like in the sixties vampire movies, but the whole face changing slightly. |

well, this is really a great image! i particularly like the background, it's really giving the painting a feeling of energy and movement.
just curious, did you use any reference or is this all out of your imagination? |

Thanks! No, no reference for this, you can tell on the guys neck and shoulders particularly, I'm sure it doesn't look right, though I'd have to look at some reference to know exactly what I did wrong. |

Nice work! Painter? What brushes?
I think if you pulled back her eyes and slant them, then add more creases between her brows and upper nose bridge, she'd look more menacing. Maybe distort her fingers a bit for a more dramatic look? |

I think she does not have enough nurse credibility. You see it's ok if a nurse is a vampire, but an ugly nurse is something people can't handle. Since the body is in pretty good shape already all you have to do is to add some make-up and everyone will be happy Amazing picture btw. |

Hi Steven. Great lightning idea on this one. I think the problem with the face, like a previous poster mentioned, is that her mouth and nose is aligned differently than her eyes and backmost cheek. If you tried lowering her cheek and eye, it might work better. I can't do a paintover right now, but I sure think it's worth a try. |

Torstein, thanks, I'll adjust it. bellie, thanks!
Briareos, I wouldn't try to hide it, but I wouldn't specifically ask them to come and have a look either, not this one. I think at least one of them happened to see it yesterday, didn't get much of a reaction. (They get to see a lot of Buffy, I guess they're used to vampires.) |
