In a sense, it's hard to crit something like this because I'm not certain what effect you're after. If you're going to paint a comic-book character, then it kind of follows that the pose itself should be reasonably dynamic (think Kirby or Romita). The dynamism you find in comics is based largely on lighting, but here the image is terribly flat - the color values you've given to Daredevil are the same as the color values you've given to the wall behind him.
In the picture below, I've takken pretty much the same pose from the same angle, but just through lighting made it more dynamic and mysterious. The lighting brings out planes in the character's face, meaning it doesn't look quite so 1D as it does in your picture.

Nice work, Specialbrew.
Piethuiz, I've looked at these images and the ones on your site. I've noticed some very good advice from some pretty talented folks. I also couldn't help noticing that when you present an image, you really don't change it at all after such advice, merely swap backgrounds. When you really want to get better, it involves not falling in love with every image you make. You need to be able to make radical changes if something isn't working, or scrap it and start again. Just taking the same image and making a different environment and giving it a shot with the airbrush and a smudge isn't learning. If you want universal acceptance of anything you do, I know a couple sites. If you want people to critique your work, this is a good place. If you don't accept some of the advice, however, people will get frustrated with you and will stop trying to help. Because that's what this is, a place where people help each other <humming koom-by-ya>.
I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but Specialbrew did a particualarly good critique which seemed to whip right past you. |

Thanks for your advice dogfood
First i'm sorry if people get frustrated.
I what make my work better, so i like to have advice and critique.
That is why my work is on this forum, to learn not for the
acceptance of anything i do. Other people see more, there
can i learn from. I dont like to make radical changes to my
images(most stop whith it). The advice's have i read and perhaps learn
form. I like the help from everbody, i only what to make to many images
!
I will use the advice's i my images.
Have Fun |

Thanks for the tip about the lighting specialbrew.
Ogereye the first image was boring.
dARCKLOW hoply is the image not to blurred.
Hoply looks it now more 3D.
Have made the face smaller,
smaller light source, and give the costume
more schaduw, structure.
Thanks all |

Hey, that's far better! Thanks for taking in some of what I suggested.
I think one of the things about art of any kind is not to be too precious about any work we do. Discarding stuff is a very necessary part of the job - I know I chuck 90% of what I do - but one of digital art's few downfalls is that it's tempting to screw around with an image forever, simply because we can undo as much as we like.
Don't be afraid to completely scrap something and start again. It's a greta way to learn and improve.
