Greetings

Never having done a sunset picture before I’m not sure if I’m going at it the right way. Anyway, I’m clueless on how to start the ocean part. Would I need a large hard-edged paintbrush or small, or an airbrush?

FYI, she is an elf staring off into the sunset after a long hard day.

As for the rest, I do plan on working more to improve the highlights and shadows. In addition I plan on adding a few more clouds. (Maybe).
Also, I only JUST discovered the power of the “Hard-edged Paintbrush”, up till now I was exclusively an airbrush man. But on this image I decided to try combining the two and this is what I got. Some of you old school pros may see it better than others.

Anywho, any thoughts on the water? Or anything else for that matter?

Her hair looks very blury. Maybe define some more individual strands with the paintbrush. At the moment it looks like the ships are in a dried up lake. Looks kinda cool.

I like it ... though the armor could use a bit of shine ...

I feel that the water seems a bit like sand ...
Heres a quick paint over for the water ...

shading wise excellent, nice colour scheme, but as said earlier, quite a dry lake and the ships look a bit plastic, the armour could do with a little hilites, even if it wasnt sipposed to shine brightly anyway. i know i shouldnt be the one talking, but still. all in all an excellent piccy

Don't make blue water if your sky is orange. Water isn't blue, its reflective at shallow angles and inherits the color of its sky and surroundings.

Take a look at Fisher to see what I mean. It might also give you an idea for what kind of brush you should use.
