ATTENTION: update at bottom.
This is an egyptian guard who houses feelings of dispicament (is it called that?) towards his leader.
I start out sketching out the rough shape as seen in the right arm (his left)and work towards the darker, more precise lines as seen in the face.
I know I should propably start out by defining the rough shape in a basic way, but this particular piece started life as a complete doodle, so no planning existed...
Comments on method, procedure, and whatnot is warmly welcome
EDIT: What's up with his face?? I know, I'm working on it!

Yeah, some colour....damn this is hard!!
But good fun!
Btw, it's a shame that the talent of this board spend it's time anwering, and thereby acknoledging pointless threads (we all do sometimes, I know)

you really got the look great. Really looks like he is pissed at someone. On the newest version I would get rid of the thick black line down his nose, it's pretty distracting and it looks like it is not needed.

Heya Sukhoi!
First time I have seen any of your work I think.
Very nice start I think. It's easy to see that you got some knowledge there hidden in you. Some very nice observations. The way you have the blue backlight influencing the skin color is good - going from cold to warmer color as the skin turns away from the cold moon. Great!
Your anatomy also seems pretty solid altough a bit on the 'stylized' side.
But you need to think more about your forms though. Try to figure out how the angle of a certain form - shoulder, chin etc. is compared to the lightsource. And how the light travels across the form, what part of the form is getting the most light and what part of the form is more in shadow. Treat everything as individual objects. But also keep those individual objects within the same scene. Its damn hard and takes alot of work...
Hope this helps

xXxPZxXx:
Thanks. Yeah, black lines are desturbing sometimes, I think you'll like the new one better. A little more balanced.
BooMSticK:
Nope, no knowledge, only talent (I hope) !
No, seriously I haven't done any humanoids in a very long time, and this is by far the best yet...if not the most realistic.
It's not supposed to be the moon lighting up his face, but sortof a reflection from his blade (at the time of the previous incarnation still imaginary, hehe).
Yeah, I need to train more in braking subjects into simpler forms. Definately!
I think of your advice the next time I plan to actually learn
Well, there is really nothing more to this picture now, so I'll just pull of a dual post I think (one goes into finished section also).
Btw Boom, check out this one also. G.Pro did a fine paintover, always a treat. http://www.sijun.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=002820
Thanks folks!
