by that i mean im new to this board, and this is my first oil painting

i picked up my lil sister's oil painting stuff and started this yesterday. the real piece is 16X20 plus it's a bit brighter and has more detals. because of my cheap digital camcorder(i dont have a D-cam), this is the best quality jpg it could take

need some advice ...i want to be rich

Well, if you really have something against the guy...

Just seems wierd to go to a load of trouble painting a portrait of someone in expensive oil paints and then deface him with bloody knife cuts. Is that actually what you were intending to do when you painted this far, or did you just change your mind then?

Agree on the subject matter, could cause a huge load of erm... mis-interpretations of what youï¿½re trying to say, you also being Canadian, I hear you and the Americans arenï¿½t best of buddies. Iï¿½m not even American, iï¿½m English but er... this is just really weird. Some sort of fetishy thing maybe? ... Explain in detail what youï¿½re trying to achieve and maybe why and how you want help, then youï¿½ll probably get some useful posts instead of useless questions like the ones Iï¿½m posing to you. Yeah Iï¿½d agree your technique is not bad, carry on with the other eye and maybe define the edges more, then you can really get the detail down. The shit colour of the background is quite appropriate, but it doesnï¿½t make the "character" stand out as he is also a similar colour. Anyway ... hope you clarify what this is all about mate. I suppose on these message boards anyone can post anything. I just think you may need to be a bit more sensitive to other people in here... just my two pennies...

i thought of cutting it before i even started...just want to make a piece of work to how much hate i have with him.

as for his eye..i made them fuzzy(not as show) , to reflect his evilness and dark mind...i'll cut it when it drys

this "painting-then-cutting" thing kinda reminds me of this dude i saw in a video my professor showed in my visual literacy class (a bullshit class, if i ever saw one

anyways, this guy would make a bunch of pictures in chalk, then at each showing, he'd basically scrub everything away rather forcefully... something about his expression against racism and stuff (he's african-american)...

oh well, just popped into my head...

From an artist perspective, I would say the eyes need to be a bit larger.

From someone who doesn't admire him and thinks he is a cold blooded killer and cult leader, I would say it is way to early to post a "normal" painting of this man. You see this man's evil deeds are louder than your painting skills. But, I mean...it would be neat if you turned it into a statement of a negative perspective. I actually thought about painting him too, but I was going to paint him in hell with a bunch of zombie, decaying flesh, women arms stretched out walking towards him titled "Heres the virgins you were promised". But, I changed my mind.
But, the oil painting skills are pretty good.

ASS-ama Bin-Ladin and call it art is beyond me.....and then to hear people defend him is even worse.....BUT thats just my opinion....

Paint Hitler if you really want to. Not everything needs a reason, so don't cut him up. Besides, it's quite a nice portrait.

I'm not going to defend Bin Laden at all. But come on, take this for what it is. It's a portrait. He didn't ask what you think of the guy or whether or not you approve. There have been portraits of Hitler posted here before. There's nothing wrong with that. He's not supporting the guy by painting him. You have no idea what his intentions are in painting this. Look at it as a piece of artwork, not as propaganda or whatever you all seem to think it is.

Anyway, it's an excellent portrait. You obviously captured the likeness perfectly. Skin tones look great, especially around the finished eye. I agree with the above replies in that it is a little bit of a touchy subject, but you can paint what you want. And I think it's turning out very well.
